Red Plug To Stop Popping Of The Pipe ??

Hopefully someone that knows the deal with this red plug that plugs
one of the hoses from the air box. I read that it is for stopping the bike
from popping on the way down ( with a pipe ). If anyone can explain
what it does, where to get it, does it really stop the popping ?? Any info
and or explination is fully appreciated. My Muzzy pops a bit on the way down.
If Apropovic comes out with a 4 into one I might switch to that pipe. But if I
can stop the popping with this trick I would like to do so .

Thanks Vak

This is the same thing as installing block off plates. You are removing the ability of the KLEEN system to function, which helps with emissions. In essence, plugging that hose will stop the emissions system from injecting fresh air into your exhaust stream, eliminating 'afterburn' of your richer exhaust gasses.

Have you done this ?? Where do you get this plug and or instructions as well ??
If it really stops the popping then I want to do it. But what will it change about
the way the bike runs ?? You can't get something for nothing I always say. When
you get something it seems you always lose something. Let me know I appreciate
any help at all. Thanks in advance .....................................

If you pull off the left George Forman Grille you will see a grey or black tube going into the bottom of the airbox through a grommet. You can just pull it right out. It is slant cut on the end. You can use anything to plug the hose and stick it back in the grommet so unfiltered air wont go in the airbox. The red plug is just a plastic cap that fits over the hose after the slant part is cut off. I found one in my junk box and used it. It will help some on the backfiring, but wont completely eliminate it. This is where the Kleen system gets the fresh air to inject into the exhaust. Eventually I will remove the whole system and put on the block off plates.....TB

That kleen hose is located downstream of the air filter!
Make sure whatever youi use to plug the hose, can not come loose and wind up sucked into the engine!
