I'am going to do my very best to Optimize this "NO FLIES" map tommorrow. Barring having to ride this thing in the rain to get to the shop. I have a couple of bikes lined up for tuning saturday but, if I can get the 14 down to the shop I will go through this map 100% to reaffirm. I will post any changes in results.

Guys,
I just want all to be informed so they don't make choice they regret later.

1. There is a noticeable decrease in low RPM drivability and smoothness with the plates removed. Since this is where most guys spend the majority of their time on the street, it is a VERY bad place to have glitches. Shit like this drives me nuts- personally.

2. You must remap to match all componentry- exhaust system, fuel type, air cleaner in/out etc. There is not now and will not ever be a map which works for all types of exhausts and configurations- EVER!

I have over 10 maps almost ready for our customers alone....they should start arriving later this weekend.

FYI: Most Dynojet tuning center operators charge $275 -$350 for a map session if you decide to go this route to correct your own mess.

3. If you decide to re-install your plates- USE LOCTITE on the screw threads! The color from the factory is green- But, there is not a universal color code. Be sure to use a thread locker which is FUEL COMPATIBLE. Also-anything you use my prevent proper removal later- AND...if you strip the screw heads, it is a BIG MESS to remove the throttle bodies to drill them out etc.

Note: I would see if the green used is available through your Kawasaki dealer.

4. There are other options available which do not create the above mechanical hassles- stay tuned for more details. I am still testing and I WILL NOT post results of suggestions until they are thoroughly tested on the dyno, track and street......ALSO for the above reasons.

Brock.

Anybody concidered drilling the secondary flies instead of remove them?
The proper size hole would help at low rpm and have no effect on top.

That would be worse as it would create turbelence in the airstream. It's better to either remove them or to fine tune the programming to have them open at an earlier time.

Keep in mind that this map is not what I would consider a replacement for custom mapping your bike on a dyno. Canned Maps such as this will definitely get you close enough to be out of danger of engine damage & they will feel good as opposed to not have any at all. But for example, I installed a perfect match for my mods "Canned Map" on my 2004 ZX10 & it pulled 149HP when I got thru custom tuning it that same bike a short time later that day was pulling 158HP.

Dyno Tuning your bike is the cheapest way to get ponies out of your ride!

Just want to reiterate what Brock has posted to be 100% right concerning his #2 point. Dynoing each bike to their components. I recommend whole heartedly that this "NO FLIES" map only be used as a temporary solution until your bikes' can be custom mapped by a knowledgable dyno tuner.

Raining Cats & Dogs & Monkies here! No 14 on the dyno today ! Did the 2 i had lined up though. You know I keep thinking about this rideability issue that Brock has mentioned. I do not have that on my 14. What I have w/the flies removed & the map installed is an impressive & quite enjoyable increase in power & torque. My bike is not wheelie prone, nor is there any issues w/rough idle or shutting off?!? I believe w/ a Complete Tuning session on this bike I should have this puppy SWEET!!!

Now as far as Drag Racing I can see where the NO FLIES can make for a considerable increase in difficulty as far as launching this monster is concerned. Clutch Slip & Throttle control will difinitely play a larger role in a launch w/ the Flies removed. But, I do not drag race more than maybe 3% to 4% of my riding time on this bike so that is not of great concern to me.

What I do find myself doing when I ride is alot of rolling on the throttle sometimes in a comfortable cruising gear & now having the acceleration that I expected to have down low.Instead of having to drop 2 gears like a 600 to get it on the ponies.

Obviously , There are 2 schools of thought here.

If you go to the strip more than you street ride your 14 leave the flies in! You'll probably have a less problematic launch & a better result for the 1320 ft. that lie ahead.

OR. if you ride the 14 in a similar fashion as I find myself doing, I choose to leave the Flies out & when tuned properly, I know that I sit atop the most impressive streetbike to roll off the floor.

I'am not recommending either approach, just stating my observation.

my secondary valves have been out for two weeks put about 500 miles on it since then, try everything possible, redline, half throttle full throttle, different gear, got it to red line to 150 miles. never saw anything unusual, no miss no hesitation, power unblievable all the way to red line.

i have carbon fiber muzzy slip on no pc. the only thing i noticed was back fire in different rpm as you let go of acceleration but it did this before i pulled the secondary valves.

power is awsome on low rpm, but the rush over 6000 is not there anymore, it kind a smooth out all the way to red line.

i know this might be different for someone else bike. i am staying with mine as is.

Shawnski...obviously you have not remapped since removing them. I have them out now, but will put them back until I install a PC3 since there has been indication that the bike runs to lean with them removed under certain throttle conditions...have you checke your plugs since you removed the plates?

Orjef, you said you had done testing with them in and out and saw no real difference in AFR? Others are saying there is...are your's out also? You tested under WOT and part throttle to see about AFR?

i think i am going to leave mine as is unless i see any significant changes on bike performance, idling or starting the bike. i guess i am taking a chance but hell it runs great, it starts good, it idles good so why should i mess with it.

Due yourself a big favor & either install the "NO FLIES" map (for 14's w/Brocks StreetMeg), or get tuned. Better yet , do both the map I made w/save your tuner some time!

Or if not those options: Put the flies back in before you damage your MOTOR!!!

Whoa, did I miss something here? Shawnski, please put the flies back in, step away from the bike. You need a PCIIIUSB to adjust a map. I have some ZX14 specific PCs' on their way if you want one let me know I'll load the map in it for ya. Then you can run w/o the flies.
Dude, you are definitely putting the cart before the horse here.

hey just kidding, the flies going back in there tomorrow, leave it stock with only muzzy slip on, plenty of power still. this way you don't have to fuck with all these remapping shit that i don't think anybody figure it out yet.

Speak for yourself, I got it figured out just fine. Thats why I have a shop. If you arent sure what to do w/ your bike it would be best to leave alone or bring it to someone who knows their stuff.

Listen, I just don't want to hear how someone screwed up their bike. This bike is a serious ride & not one I would recommend as a guinea pig for the inexperienced wrench. Be patient, have your local shop install the PC for you. You laid out 12K for the bike, whats another few bucks to get what you want done right?
