Thanks fish, right now I'm so busy don't have time to search the site much. I went to the track Sunday and made four runs best being 10.18@140.56 air was at 3177ft, bike was bone stock even had the tool kit under the seat.no strap and not lowered. I also weigh 218 unsuited. I feel with 4 more runs I could have been in the 9's, but it was to hot and humid. Can't wait to go back out.

Wierd that they are only running low 10s. Every big bike ive had ran low 10s. zx12\zx10\hayabusa. I thought i read somewhere that a zx14 went right in the nines? Also i wiegh 215. Im rethinking getting rid of my 12 if theres no real big difference in power. Im gonna have 2 be convinced somehow. Any info on how your runs went bently would be appreciated. Spinning, wheelieng, or just afraid 2 open it up? Must be a prob.

only prob is the rider... if you think there's no "real big difference in power" between the 14 and the 12.. yer wrong!

Yes agree with fish as I owend a 12 before there is a major power difference. The only reason I failed to run 9's was because of myself, not the bike. On one pass I ran 142.79mph. I know next time out 9's are there. And if I lower it, think 9.80's are there.

I didn't run the 1/4 stock but i did run the 1/8 ..... Best of 4 runs was 6.40s@116 and change.... That pass should have been around a 9.80 or 9.90 ...After that i added the pipe and strap.......Guys the bike has the power to go mid nines stone stock if you have the skills or some seat time on it... Even my bad 9.80 run in the 1/4 mile had great MPH 147.. The 147 shows how the zx14 can make up for some bad 60 times and 1/8 times.. Keep working on you 60s and 330 times you will see nines real soon ...

Man you are going to be hating me in just a few seconds..............Ready to race...Leathers , boots and helmet ... 150 to 155...... For my weight i'm not going that fast yet ...I need more seat time ...The 15 1/8 mile runs and 4 1/4 miles runs are not enough for me to get the hang of this cridder yet... Don't sweat your weight, you will go 9.80s and better with time .... You at 210+ pounds , not lowered, not strapped , no pipe and you ran low low 10s !!! Drop and strap that puppy easy 9s !!!!!

I went 9s first time to the 1/4 mile ...Had real problem keeping the front end down in first and couldn't not hit my 1 to 2 gear change very well ...That cost me time and mph in the 330 times...On a few of my runs i bumped the REV limiter before gear changes... I still ended up with a 9.65 even with the screw ups... There was zx12 at the track that night and only mod he had was a pipe and P/C ... We talked for some time and he wanted to go 9s with just the mods he has now... He told me he had lots of seat time on the bike but just can't hit the 9s .... I saw him run 4 or 5 runs at 10.01... I think he could have made one pass on my zx14 and run 9s no problem.. The zx14 makes a avg rider(me) look good.....Get you a zx14 add a pipe and you will go fast for sure..

Your right, the problem is the rider. i've raced a lot of bikes, and this one is pretty hard to launch because it has so much power. It takes a lot of effort and technique to keep the front end down. Most of the other bikes you mentioned don't have the power the 14 has, and don't have the clutch either. I've only made about 20 passes on the bike, with the best being 10.27 at 135. The temp was about 91 deg. and the humidity was about 60%, and the track was at sea level. I weigh probably close to 200 lbs suited up.
By comparison, I have a 2005 ZZR1200 and I was about to run 10.52 on it, with a much better 60' time than the ZX14.
When I get back from work next week, the bike should be done, and weather permittng I'll make some passses on it and see what it does. It will have Muzzy full pipe, PC, streteched 8" over stock, rear lowered 2", front strapped, and a stinko tire(shinko). And it will be fresh off the dyno.
This bike is just going to take some practice to run 9;s, that's all. You guys running in the low 10's, myself included are beating yourselves up for nothing. I haven't drag raced in 15 years, so I'm a little rusty. I'm sure most of the other people here don't regularly run there bikes in the 1/4 mile, so it just takes practice. To the guys running 9.60's, you are truly god's, and I worship you. I'd like to see some video of your launches, I've studied Ryan's launch, and now shine's, so I'm gonna try to lead with throttle this time, instead of clutch, which is something I've never done before.
I'll have my video camera on my bike, and a helmet cam, and will post the vids when I get done. Anybody know of a good video hosting site that I can post large videos??
Sorry for rambling on, but I'm on my 6th cup of coffee, and im just slightly spun on caffeine right now.

6 cups of coffee?? damn man i would be doing donuts in the parking lot without a bike ...lol.... Just for your info i have a friend that will remain nameless that has a zx14 and i think it's 5 inches over , it may be more or less .. It has a pipe but no P/C ... I saw him make a 9.36 blast with only 2 other passes on the bike ...So when you get your goodies installed you are going to fly!!!!!.... I'm adding some arm to mine next week , i'm shooting for 61 inches like rick gadson bike.. If i can get someone to video it i will post the runs ... I crossing my fingers for some 9.30 runs ....

My 12 is running 9.30's with 5'' over extensions, pipe, pclll. Bone stock
Dont look much different from here.
I'll keep the 12 for now. If I do a 1290 kit, its all over but the crying for the 14.
The 14 is mucho trouble to do a piston kit.

Bently, and all of you for that matter are going to laugh at me. Grant it I'm 274 w/out leathers helmet etc. but I do pretty good for my size and for being a novice to the 1/4. Ive gone only once and my best was an 11.1 @ 129mph. Thats launching @ 6,000 to 7,000 and feathering all the way through 1st. I know I suck but I'll go again this Fri. and try a few other ways. Next up a full muzzy sys. and pcIII. Right now all stock just like off the showroom floor w/ Throttlemeister on it.
