It's great when a plan comes together - great power, setup, and rider.
Great writeup!

Those times are impressive, but ceramic wheel bearings and a non o-ring chain, 0 weight oil. Not your typical ride it to the track and ride it back home bike anymore. but like I said impressive times.

Art in motion.....the 9.0 run was so smooth.....it's absolutely boring to watch....Take notice how the launch was done....no big RPM off the line....

your right Brock.
Nice to see the smeg I bought makes yet another 2-5 RWHP across the entire board!
Plus it sounds NASTY ..... my friends love the way it sounds too!

Not to undermine your expertise, and knowledge.......
I weigh 200 lbs fully dressed, and really have a hard time with leaving the line at 2000 rpm though...... with stock gearing and stock intake=BOG! big time!

my experience, with my bodyweight anyway.....

The lower you leave the more aggressive you can/need to be with the throttle.
When done right there is very little clutch before the level is completely out,
and you are leaving on the throttle. Which is much easier for most.
Sometimes I have to make myself get aggressive to get the good 60's and 330's.

Keep working at it and you'll find the ultimate RPM for your 200lb frame. Might take Brocs suggestion and add 1 tooth to the rear sprocket too. It's a balancing act..jut got to figure out the right combo. ....Not related exactly but a few weeks back my 4 year old grandson was over to the house...I was installing new couplers on his electric train coaches....dam little pieces were giving me fits....I set the thing down after struggling with it for about 5 minutes....He puts his hand on my shoulder...looks me square in the eye and says...Try, Try Again Grampa...My frustration just disapeared...

Hey Brock...

I have a few questions...

How many links was the EK-DRZ chain???

Did you drill those small oil holes into the clutch hub???

Whats with the missing channels for the steel plates???

What did you do to the clutch since Shine likes the clutch soft???

What RPM was Shine staged at and what RPM did he bring it up to while slipping the clutch???

Guys, quick reply.

I don't know the number of links- I just cut and go. ( a120 pin would be plenty)
I drilled nothing.
The missing splines are Kawasaki's "BIG SECRET"!!!
Just my Busa clutch mod spacers. (I will have a kit soon @ $20)
Shine left harder than most should attempt...around 5-6K.

Tonight (Tuesday June 20) at Kil-Kare..Sonny ran a 9.18 after I made some changes on the Dyno today.

He left at around 1200-1500 rpm and the bike pulled him out SO SMOOTHLY!
He ran a 5.98@124 in the 1/8th mile. This is what 95% of the riders in the world should do!

Most people try TOO HARD...smart racers relax and let the Kawasaki engineers do the work.

I'm glad you liked the Diary's. I had a BALL writing them!

I might do a Part 3...but it will be a while and the weather will need to be nicer.

Brock, What kind of improvement does the non-oring chain, o wieght oil and ceramic wheel bearings make? I'm more interested in time not hp you picked up from those items as not to many people will probably do that to there bikes that ride them a 200 miles a week

Our ceramic wheel bearings have an aerospace lubricant and low tension dust seals to keep out dirt. My first Busa had 20k miles on zero weight oil- it's a 2001 and still hauls ass. I just say race use only to cover my ass AND if I destroy my personal engine ...it is usually used as an excuse to build a much faster modified engine!

A high quality o-ring chain will make as much HP as a non-o-ring ONCE the o-rings are WARM. This becomes an issue on the dyno as the engine has a tendency to warm up quicker than the o-rings which affects testing.

We are speaking about hundredths of a second at the track...BUT, add enough hundredths and you eventually get tenth's.

FYI: the Street megaphone is as loud as you can get away with on the street without getting hassled by the police- IF you behave yourself. We had calls in the past (from racers and nut cases alike!) saying that our Generation 3 is too quiet. Our G3 is about 102 Db. On Prostar's sound meter and our Smeg is around 107 Db....they use an S.A.E. test procedure which can be viewed in the Prostar rule book online:

Prostar Rulebook

I hope this helps answer your question.

Brock,

What gives you more hp. The street megaphone or the G3? And how do the weights compare?
