The point was, you don't start on people when they're down...what I meant was that. Sorry if I offended you, but I was put off by your remarks...the guy's in rough shape and I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate those types of remarks, as you wouldn't either if somehow the roles were reversed.

and we are in complete agreement about that
first of all.... i LOVE the steelers and i LOVE ben...
and it pisses me off that he would ruin his career (potentially) with such irresponsible behavior
it shouldn't matter if you are worth $4.00 or $40,000,000.00......
but, he is a hero to so many folks and i wish he would take advantage of that by always being a POSITIVE ROLE MODEL to those who look up to him

The only possible silver lining in this entire story is that Ben may now have the ability to be a high-profile public figure to get the whole helmet & motorcycle safety issue some much needed exposure.
Maybe some of the shorts, flip-flops, non-helmet-wearing squids will heed the message being communicated via this very unfortunate incident...

I know before the accident he was a strong advocate for freedom of choice about the helmet wearing issue. He was insistant that he was not going to wear a helmet as long as he wasn't breaking the law. I wonder if his opinion will change? I guess to each his own, but I could never go without one, dont feel comfortable. Same with seat belts for me.
