I went down today...it sucks but?
So I was out riding my 14 today; it's only got 900 miles on it this far over the past 3 weeks of ownership. I seea gas station up on the right so I slow to enter the driveway of the station and what do you know.........there's a gravel spread all over the place at the entry point. I didn't even see it becasue the gravel was also tossed about the road surface as well. Around here the roads and gravel are all the same color (gray) so you can't see this shit until like it's a car length in front of you and by then it's too late. I was doing a move very similar to what you'd do when driving and pulling off to the shoulder of the road, so no turning involved though I did have some slight pressure on the front break. I'd figure I was doing about 15 mph when it actually happen and the fron tire simply slid and the whole bike turned right and fell over so fast I didn't know what had happened until I was on the ground looking up. Reminds me of hitting ICE or something similar, very fast to the ground I went. I'm fine except for a sore ankle. I was wearing leathers as always.
The damage is on the right side only, side fairing scratches, mirror scratches, front cowling is cracked/scratched below mirror (4-5" long crack, can you say Epoxy). Right exhaust can is trashed along with front right blinker. The bike slid about 3 feet on gravel/rocks. I'll order the front blinker and KAWASAKI emblem tomorrow (hope I can get both for $100 or so). Thought about just repairing those parts and sanding/preping them to be repainted in BLACK, then replacing the right can, but I now have second thoughts. Cost would be similar I guess.
Gonna take the rest of the bike apart tomorrow and sand the entire thing over the next few days. I just ordered the Two Bros Carbon Fiber Slip-on Exhaust ($900). So still need to orders those other 2 items from dealer (blinker and emblem). I'm gonna repaint the whole bike myself (I have the equipment and know how to do so). I have a pint of Charcoal Grey paint that I'll mix 70/30 or so with straight up BLACK to make it a darker. The whole thing will be painted in that color and when the remaining parts including exhaust get here I should have her back on the road within 2 weeks.
Trying to find the silver lining in this rain cloud.

That truly sucks! Good thing you didn't get banged up too bad. I'd like to see the new paint job when you get it done. Good Luck

hope you get it back together.I know what you mean about the roads they seem to get worse every year. I got some potholes that will swallow a hummer. when I call the town to get them fixed they say they will.... but never do......so much for paying your taxes. I would go to the gas station and tell the owner you are going to sue his butt. for unsafe conditions in to his place . years ago I fell into a pothole on the pa turnpike that was in a area of construction. the hole was about 40 yards long and about the width of a front tire and about 10 inches deep....there was no warning signs or lower speed limit signs posted. hit that thing at the speed limit and watched my front tire go down on my kaw. ltd 1100. woke up in the hospital all busted up....had a state trooper on my rear and he thought I got killed when the bike went down. the state bastards fixed the hole the next day and tried to say the hole was never there. but I had friends who took pictures of the area and the hole and with the trooper help and about 7years of my time I won 2.5 million bucks from the state of pa for there total lack of safety and their attempted cover up of the accident in court.....good luck and never let the bastards win. that was in 1982

I was letting a car pass me on a small side street (mine) and I went
on some leaves just for a sec at like 2mph. I knew not to touch the front
brake. I barley touch it to slow a little and slam right to the side and down.
Not on my 14 but I know the feeling.

I cracked my front fender with my lock rolling it out. I used some plastic epoxy and a bondo strip on the inside of the fender. You cant even see it now. It wont be coming off anymore. Good product. Havent had any problems with it.

Hope the parts I ordered today will get here soon. Ordered the Front Blinker ($51), KAWASAKI emblem ($39) and the lower right fairing ($108). Total was like $197 or so.
However, since I'm doing a total paint job, I'll have to order the left Kawi emblem and both rear ZX-14 emblems. I tooo the little Ninja stickers off 2 weeks ago, thery're not going back.
Paint will be Charcoal Grey mixed with Black (70 / 30% or so). This should be interesting!
Went to NAPA and got the BLK paint (1/2 pint) to mix with the full pint of Grey I already had ($65). The bike is apart in my garage. Already wet sanded/glazed the right fairing scratches. Sanded both rear fairings, and repaired the cracked front cowling. I also sanded the small "V" shaped plastic in the rear light section. Tomorrow will sand front cowling, fuel tank, and left fairing. That should do it, pushing to get the paint done on Wed or Thurs evening. Bar risers came in today, hope Kawi parts and 2 Bros exhaust get here by weeks end.
I'll keep all posted on the progression and will try and have her put back together this weekend, with pics if possible.

Plastex is a better choice.
