Goodridge Brakelines. No Good!

I installed these POS lines this morning. 1st time I've used this brand. Normally I use the Galfers. Goodridge lines were a terrible fit & on top of that there was a slight burr on the right front line that leaked had to take apart set-up twice & rebleed before I found it. Ended up having to sand down the banjo fitting for 20 min. These lines are garbage & i'm sure theres guys out there that have had good results with this brand but, I will be ordering the galfers to replace this crap!

Well at least the bike hit 200. One good thing covers the bad.

I spent almost 3 hrs. screwin around w/ these crap lines. I was so fed up I wasn't going to play w/ the dyno. Said what the f**k & strapped her on.
Stay away from the goodridge lines you'll be happy you did.

Banjo fittings on front lines were not in proper position creating a twisted situation when installed. I'm not one to bad mouth a product w/o justification but, these are terrible & I tell you this to save you the same headache I had. I installed the Galfers on my 10 & 636 No Problems at all!

I kind of thought you might mention the Banjo fittings. That is not entirely out of the ordinary with Goodridge lines. In fact I remember installing some and right on the package it said you might have to twist the Banjo eyehole around for it to line up properly.

It gave instructions on how to do so. I followed them exactly and have never had a problem. Took me like 5 mintues to do so.... And 6 years later no problems with them so far on my ZX12R....

I gave it hell trying to twist & turn them w/ no luck. The banjo fittings werent even the optimum angle for the app. Then after I got it somewhat livable I start bleeding them down, fluid leaking. take it apart change crush washers & try again with same problem. Check again & found defective surface under the black anodize, proceed to sand smooth starting w/ 180 grit & after the 2nd shot at it w/ 1000 grit finally got it to hold fluid w/o leaking. I have installed quite a few sets of brake lines in my time, most of them I've assembled & sized myself. I've not had a problem before. I have to chalk it up to poor quality control on manufactures part. I have them on the bike right now & they are performing as I expected them to perform which is fine. Were they worth the trouble? No.
The last part I want to have 2nd thoughts about on this bike is brakes.

I can understand that for sure. Interesting though, maybe you got a bummer set or something. Where they the correct length? I remember when all of us 12R guys were buying Goodriges lines there seemed to be 2 lengths available from Goodridge. The correct length, and too long of a length. Lol. Only person that seemed to be able to get the right length lines was Doug Ray from Spencer cycle. Thats where I got mine and they fit correctly, except for having to spin the Banjo eye.

Sooo what to buy now...??? Perhaps Spiegler as that is what is on Brock Davidsons machine...

Oh please spare me. Do you think I started this topic as a means to promote Brock? I own my own shop! I try not to self-promote on this forum. I have no need to promote anyone else's products. I have already stated what has worked for me in the past "1st time I've used this brand. Normally I use the Galfers."
The brake lines were s**t! pure & simple. I was not satified w/their product.I wont have my time wasted w/ them again.
In my opinion there are better options.

Spare you what? I dont understand your hostility at all. Did you not see above where I said I agreed with your posting and problems?? Did I say anyplace at all you were promoting Brock??? Good for you if you own your own shop, my friend does, as well as many other people. I understand you feel there are better options, did you miss that gist of my last post that I probably wont be using Goodridge either? Not sure what your all bent out of shape for......

Hostility? I don't think I would call my response hostile. I took your last post as a shot at me trying to promote someone elses product by bad mouthing another which I do not do. I apparently misunderstood you & my apologies for coming across as hostile.
No harm , no foul.
