clicking under heavy breaking

I was riding without a helmet for a short period to detect a clicking I heard on rides. I have a click sound under heavy breaking. Not automatically but when I start to take off again.

Any thoughts?

I have to bring the bike in for the recall this next week so I want to tell them to look at it.

Ya mine clicks as well if you hit the front lever hard as your rolling the bike around or driving at slow speeds you can hear it, it's just the front calipers getting fluid to them to apply the pads.

Certain bikes, specific vins, have a recall on the kill switch if it tipps over. there is a thread on here regarding it. I got a letter about two days ago from Kaw on it. It is under the fairing and the bolts need to be tightened.

The recall header is call zx-14 vehicle down sensor bolt.

Hope this helps.

Could also be the full floating rotors. Mine clicks sometimes and that's what mine is. Normal for full floaters.

Mine made a clicking sound as well, almost a popping sound. It turned out to be the steering head bolt, It was finger tight. good luck!

Lift the bike up off the side stand. Roll the bike back and hit the front brake. That click? It's your brake pucks floating in the caliper. You always want to hear that sound. No/slight sound = stuck caliper pistons (pucks dragging) against the discs.

Just make sure it's not a loose steering stem nut. I had mine go loose on my R1 and at first I thought it was the rotors.

Maybe the loose nut holding the handle bars

It's the brake pads floating in the calipers already checked it out. It's worse sounding when you back the bike down the driveway and apply the brake. Normal no issue

Thank You fellas. My steering stem nut was not very tight. I was able to tighten it and that solved the problem.

I haven't taken my helment off to listen, but it sounds like the front brake light switch engaging off/on.
I have checked the screws on my roll over switch.

I believe it to be the steering stem nut. I am about to go and make sure it is tightened. You would think the dealer woudl check it at the 600 mile!

Will advise as i am about to do it now.

heavenlyride tighting the nut helped my problem. You have to check all the body bolts to. I happen to check my body and had already lost one bolt in the lower fairing. All the bolts on the right side of the bikes fairing were lose. I didnt believe it. I also think the wheel may not be balanced. I adjusted my front preload to stiff and i could feel the wheel on a straight flat road. It felt as if the wheel wasnt balanced. You cant feel it with the front shocks soft. Im debating if i should pull it and have it checked. I read the new rim helps with the balancing.

On the R1 it was the nut under the triple clamp. You had to remove the top clamp and there was 2 locknuts with a rubber washer between them. The rubber washer wouldn't allow the top nut to torque up enough, but if you shit can it it worked fine. Not sure how the 14 is, mine has stayed tight so far.

i had noise on the stop and the start. dealer time. it does not handle like head is loose. i hear the brake switch and the rotor noise. My Mille has that noise of floating brakes.

I will advise after he takes a look.
