That seems low. Brock said his megaphone made more hp than his generation system. With everything in place air filter, no race gas, pc3 and pipe made 184hp.

I, too, am disenchanted with the numbers compared to what Brock published. They are what they are, though.

The sub-throttles are still in it, as you guys surmised.

All that aside, she is a pretty fun ride. :-)

Islewisz, what altitude are you at, and how does that compare to Dayton, Ohio...........? 5 hp or so between bikes is not that much. What kind of oil did you use? And was your chain adjusted properly. All these factors and more play into HP. I put yosh stage one cams, air box mod, PC3 on my busa and I made 180 flat.................so I think you have a pretty strong bike..............;

It appears that your only about 100 feet higher in altitude than Dayton. But not all engines will dyno the same........besides Brock broke his in real hard. That could be the difference....................

Where is the Torque Valley of Death?
AND
you don't have TRE

Now I can relax - OCII & Full Titanium will fix it
Perhaps still TRE...?

Thanks for all the replies, gents.

vegasdude - The chain is at the tight end of spec, same as my baseline dyno. I'm running Amsoil 10W-40 bike oil.

FBA - You're right about the a/f ratio. It's TONS better than stock. Timing didn't allow me to test it, but I'll bet the PC alone would have been worth 6-7 HP and improved rideability in the midrange.

Please, VPN, no TRE. Brock proved that 'Busa's run slower in the quarter with TRE's. Here's a quote from his website:

" There is another modification that one of the other sportbike-oriented magazines has praised as the greatest thing since sliced bread. It is a timing-retard eliminator (TRE) available for the 2000 and '01 Hayabusa. This is a great mod for guys who race at Bonneville, have several of miles of speed limit free roads in their area (I wish!) or like to practice wheelies. If you like to drag race or do roll-on's , this product will SLOW YOU DOWN! We have tested it time and time again on different bikes at the drag strip with the same results- around one tenth and 1 ½- 2 mph slower. The track measures performance and does not lie when used properly. The bike does have more "seat of the pants" grunt for about the first 5 feet in 1st gear (or up to 4500 rpm) then is confused into thinking that it is in 5th gear all of the time, even though it is in 1st, 2nd, etc. I'll bet that big-buck Suzuki R&D team didn't place all of those different load maps in the ECM for no reason!"

tslewisz,
Did you dyno before you installed the pipe?

All dyno's read differently....your chart is SAE with the scalling set at 5. The scalling alone can chop 2-3 HP from reality and the SAE scale is much lower still. Tire pressure can hurt readings by 5-10 hp or more! Some bikes read LOWER HP numbers with MORE pressure if the knurling on the drum is worn.

I use SAE to test products and STD to display results...believe it or not NO ONE in the indusrty speaks of SAE abouut performance results.

Your charts might be BETTER than mine if you have a stock SAE to compare?

Can you get the run files? I TRULY EXPECT EVERYONE to see the same results as we see...PERIOD. No Smoke/No Mirrors.

I would love to get enough information to help you know if your results are good.

FYI: I am finishing my Diary Part 2...wait until you see the dyno results of my bike after the weather turned hot/humid here in Dayton...especially with a track adjusted map...which set the quickest E.T. to date ever recorded by a stock bike with a pipe- ;o)

Have Chad send the run files to me: brock@brockracing.com

Good thing you never removed the secondary throttle plates.

Does the PCIII eliminate the soft responce in the lower 4 gears? I thought 5th gear would be the right choice for a dyno run..............

Brock, my stock run is here http://tslewisz.smugmug.com/photos/71028780-L.jpg

Pretty sure the bike had about 40psi in the rear, since that's what it was when I checked it a few days later before a ride.

I'll send Chad your request for the runfiles.

warbird - seems that the secondary 'flies don't come into play in 5th and 6th so I might expect bigger torque in those gears. That's one of my concerns in removing them: If I remove them, add fuel to compensate in the lower gears, I think it will be too rich in the top gears. Not good.

Thanks, guys.
