Poll Question: Poll. Who dislikes all the restrictions?
Listen to me bitch.. What the fuck is up with all the restrictions on this 14? My buddy wanted to do a roll on in 2nd gear tonight and I laughed at him and then I had to explain to him the deal with this neutered bike.. This bike is a turd below 5 K rpm and then we can't have fun top end cause I hit the governor.. Where the hell can I have fun.. In the middle I suppose.. What the hell is kawasaki thinking... I sure would like to know....
Poll Results:

What ???
You can't have fun top end because you hit the govenor or do you mean the rev limiter ?
If you're hitting the rev limiter that's your fault...
And I find it hard to believe this bike doesn't have a good top end with the kind of speed it generates in the 1/4.

If you care so much about the lower half of a powerband you should have bought a smaller bore bike.

I have never run a long strip or raced or drag-raced or used the full power of a SuperBike
=> rookie !!! :-)
I have tested several Busa's and today I might get a change to test BMW 1200S
I'm going to test ZX-14/ZZR-1400 ASAP
It's all on the wrist
AND
I just want low-end torque, the rest is for fun!!

VPN sorry buddy but any liter bike has more low end torque than a ZX14.. Unless its supposely modded with the butterflies valves removed. Any liter bike will pull on you and unless the road is long enough they will over take you.. And unless you hit the governor as I did last night .

Fastestbusaround Now if you do a roll on at 2500 rpms your 10 is going to pull the 14.. Period.. Stock to Stock

"All" the restrictions (2 total?) don't bother me at all for the following reasons...
1) I rarely find myself in those everyday situations where I am doing 2,500 RPM roll-ons. (does anyone actually ride around at 2,500 RPMs?????)
2) I have never once run into a situation where I needed to go fast and 186 mph just wouldn't do it. The licka sto isn't that far away. I can get there quick enough
3) I don't mind shifting at all. I'm not all that concerned about the power under 6,000 RPMs.
I didn't know about the low rev power "reduction" before I bought my bike. However, it wouldn't have made a difference in my purchase decision.

TJ at normal highways speeds 70 mph or so, the 14 is gutless when you want to pass a car. My 1270 pulls hard enough at 70 in top gear you better have both hands on the bars. The 14 is NO WHERE close to that stock. Hell it feels like you would have to downshift if you reall want to get around a car quickly. That will get fixed soon though with the power commander and throttle body mod....

if you are not happy with your zx14 sell and buy you something else. i am perfectly happy with mine. they gave you six gear to change gears so use it.

I didn't say I wasn't happy with it, Its just gutless down low. They also gave me a throttle, I would rather use that, than have to downshift..

The restrictions are there so we can find ways to get around them. Everything from programming to tre's, to bonneville box, to nikko g pack, to resistors, catalytic converters.....

ZX...you can, just have to remove the plates and remap! You will have all the guts you need down low...no shifting needed. But I think you already knew that huh? Just going to have to spend some money to get there...the power increase will blow your 12 away at those speeds.

Eh if I'm riding for power, then even at 70 mph I'm probably in 3rd, maybe even 2nd, and I guarantee you I don't have to shift to whip past anything in my way. If I am in touring mode, then 70 in 6th is down around 3K rpms, but who cares? I'm out on the interstate or some back road tooling along, I doubt I need to pass someone at ludicrous speed during that time. As for the top end 186 is plenty for me, and I doubt I'll see that very many times (notice I didn't say NO times MUAHAHAHA) so I'm not worried about the double-ton...yet!
