Introducing Myself

Just wanted to say hello. Have to admit I've been a troll for about a month. Getting my 14 on Saturday so it became time to join in on the conversation. Current ride is a Yamaha FZ1 with jet kit, exhaust system, and a ton of other mods. Mostly into riding the twisty back roads through New England. Will be keeping the Yamaha but looking forward to getting the red 14.

Planned mods: (1) PC (2) exhaust - Brock's carbon can sure looks nice (3) ignition module
if it proves valuable (4) tailight integrator (5) something other than Bridgestones.

Howdy! The North east USA has always been a place that I've wanted to ride. Are the roads good?

Got transferred from West Palm Beach, FL to Hartford, CT in 2000. Riding is much more
fun up here in the northeast. Roads are generally nice and smooth. Some good twisty
backroads with nice hilltip crests. Traveled nearly every backroad in CT, Massachusetts,
and Rhode Island worthy of traveling. Will be heading further north later this summer.
Probably take the 14 up to Nova Scotia in July. Only problem with riding this year has been
the rain. It won't quit.

Thanks for the welcome. Probably won't get much sleep till I pick that red 14 up.

Yeah, I feel the love TJ. It's the same greeting I get from about half the Harley types when I
pass em. It always puts a big smile on my face! At any rate, gonna be nice to join the elite
club of 14 owners. Already stole a bunch of ideas from this site, including GPS mounts,
tailbags, Brock's exhaust and PCIII, etc. Can't contribute nothing but crap opinions until I
actually own the bike and get some miles on it.

Know what ya mean, I was taking mine to the Dealership the other day when i came up behind one on dundas.
As we were slowing for a red light I started to pull up beside him and he stuffed me.... God forbid a real piece of engineering pull up beside his two cylinder compressor.
He did the typical Harly crap of over reving the straight pipes, blowing oil past his rings, and towards me.
He actually tried to take off fast from the lights so i just paced him letting him know that no matter how hard he tried... he wasn't going to pull away from me.
He was sitting in his blocking position and I again started to pull along side, so he again cuts me off.
I snap the throttle, change lanes, pull past, signal and pull back in.
I then dropped speed back to limit and cruised 3 blocks to dealer.
I pull behind shop where 10 mechanics are on break.
Park my beast and hear the stupid noise again... there's greeseball pointing at me waving me over.
I go over and he starts yelling at me for cutting him off.
I explain he stuffed me twice when he was in his blocking position. "What the fuck is a Blocking position?" was the response....
I started walking away and he said. "I should get off my bike and kick your ass!"
I hear my inner voice do the Scooby Doo noise, I put down my helmet and say "OK!, get off your piece of sh** and try. C'mon, none of your fat buddies are here to back you up, get off... this will be a consentual fight so niether one of us is breaking the law"
He then realises where this is going and states "Violence isn't the answer, you young punks (I'm 43 tomorrow) are all going to be smears on the Highway".
So I realise he's just a fat, big mouth.. "You are a typical sterotype harley asshole, you are a coward but think you are tough because of that piece of crap you ride, when you grow some balls come back, 'till then go ride your noise maker"

I walk back to where the mechanics are as they all start applauding... apparently he always comes by to bitch at Jap bike riders (he owns porn shop next door).
"Pillar of society".

Any how, now I've vented.....
You will love this bike, each day I giggle at how this thing amazes me... yea I know what things I want to do to it (Pipe , PCIII etc.) but stock is just fine right now, this thing is amazing, congrats on the new toy... only riding it will you truly appreciate everything you read here...

I don't mind Harley guys giving me the finger oir anything else
as long as they ride safe and not do anything funny to me
then it's up to police to calm him (her?) down
I also don't like to pick up fights or even promote them anyway

Yeah, not all Harley types are bad. My neighbor has two of em and we get along just fine.
Even went for some long trips with a few. I always give em a friendly wave when riding
but most of the time I'm either ignored or get the finger. A few have to show me their bike
has more low end grunt than my in-line four, but after 20 feet down the road they reached
their peak and are in my dust. Basically though, I'm friendly with anyone that rides,
regardless of what they're on. We all share the same road and have the same hazards.

So I guess you won't be giving him the "wave" next time you see him eh?
Kinda wished he had come after ya, so we would have one less dumbass dangerous rider on the road...he needs a good bitch slappin SCIFI...

Some of the 150CI motors they put in those things will give the 14 a run -- for about 2 seconds...till you realize he's tryin to beat ya...seriously though, I have one of those bikes...lotta down low TQ and power,,,sounds wicked..but, take a 14 in 1st...and you've beat the HOG in every gear it has without shifting the 14 out of 1st...LOL...now that's funny!

I have a lot of buds that ride HOGS, and we ride together all the time, with them in 4th and me in neutral. Still lot's of fun..
