Form follows function for me.
And everything on my 14 functions better than my 12's, or my 10r, for me.
Not that I wouldn't mind a 50 pound weight loss, 75 pounds after pipe install.
And a steering damper too while w'ere dreaming.
Oh, and maybe a switch for more low end. Kawi could call it traction control, on/off. Like my Yukon.

I was in Central Louisiana, Alexandria the other day, Bud on his Busa and I rode over looking for some Q. Was in the BBQ house getting ready to chow down some ribs and in comes this guy looking for who owns the ZX14 in the parking lot. Had to talk about it for 30 minutes. He was a name in the hard core Busa racers, owns 6, and just couldnt believe the 14. Personally I think it is one of the most hansome bikes I have ever seen, and I like the Busa looks. Thats hansome because there is nothing pretty about it. It has a real brute force look that says I mean business. The ZZR1200 I traded for it was a pretty bike. I believe this bike has the capbility of doing it all if set up right. Race, tour, twisties, whatever mission you throw at it and all in the same day if necessary.

I think the new ZX14 looks really cool..And close up the details of the new 14 make the Busa look dated by comparison.
Saw the blue one at the shop and the bike looks really good and feels WAY lighter than a Busa...The front end looks sweet as do the integrated turn signals and led tailight..Very clean..And the tach may be the best I've seen on a sportbike.
Got to see one run for the first time the other night as a red one pulled up and park and while red is not my favorite color choice for the bike it looked really good riding along and the motor sounded very smooth.

To the original poster.... trust me I own one. Looks are only skin deep (I happen to love the look). The first time you swing your leg over the 14 and pull away it is the most beautiful machine in the world!

Even with the damage on the left side, people pull up to me at lights, walk up to me when I'm beside it and say how amazing this thing looks.... Both Morotcycle owners, and non.
Enjoy your 12, I Love my 14.... More every single time i throw a leg over it... and When I walk away and look back, besides thinking it is beautiful... i want to cancel all my plans and get back on her.

I think if people raced bikes and were way into that style and accustomed to hat lean crazy look. Then the Zx-14 might seem too big (fat) or heavy. I like almost all new bikes, but the Zx-14 has it all. It is a big ,sleak ROCKET!
I'm 6'5'' -200 lbs. and I don't want a Goldwing! (yet)
The bike is great!

One requirement of bike ownership for me is that I must be able to sit on a lawn chair on my driveway and love staring at my bike. If you don't care for the looks and if that's important
to you, DON'T BUY THE BIKE.
If it's that important to you for people to tell you how good looking your bike is, get a Ducati 996. Are you trying to impress yourself or others??

I will admit that the pictures of the 14 look better then real life. The one I saw was up on a pedestal. Maybe that's why it left such a bad impression.

i'm blastmaster's friend with both the 12r and 14, we sit down and look at both bikes, i got
the 14 because, it's the biggest and baddest machine that kawasaki makes. i'll always buy
the newest bigbore bike that comes from the big K.
i brought the 2000 zx12r in 2000, the 2003 zx12r in 03, now the 06 zx14(call me a sucker for
kawasaki's) there are a bunch of suzuki suckers out there!
now that i got the 14, i can kinda compare the two, it seem like the 12 rides a little better than the 14 for some reason, i don't know, it sounds a little crazy!
the 12 seems to hold the road better, the 14 has more motor, almost too much for the frame. i kinda wish kawasaki went back to the old around the motor frame instead of the
over the top cradle frame.(turboing would be cheaper and easier)
don't get me wrong i like my new bike, but my heart is still with the 12, that's why i still own
one! as far as looks, the 12r is hands down the prettier of the two!

Just wait til Kaw drops that huge motor in a totally redesigned Eliminator, much like the ZL900 of 1985. Wonder what the so called power cruisers of today will do then.
