Some kind of cruise?

Has anyone out there put any kind of cruise (VistaCruise, NEP, ThrottleMeister) on their ZX yet? I've got an 1800 to 2000 mile trip coming up soon and need to work on getting some kind of cruise on there. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I have my ZZR1200 throttlemeister (the long/heavy version) sitting on my bench. I removed it from the ZZR, but haven't tried it on the ZX-14 yet... maybe tonight or this weekend? How soon do you need to know?

Seems like someone else here installed a throttlemeister too...?

It fits right on the 14 from your ZZR with no mods, did it last week -- throttlemeister that is...

Hmmm so I might have to spring for another $100 bucks to get a throttlemeister for the ZX. I wish they came in powerdercoat black. That chrome is surely going to stand out on the black ZX.

That's good to know, thanks. I was wondering if there were any bar-end differences between the bike because they are a different design. The 14's ends have a recessed screw (1/4 inch or so), and they feel "rubbery" like they are rubber isolated. The ZZR's were most definitely not rubber isolated, and the screws were flush with the bar end.

The throttlemeister's bolt is all threaded, so I was pretty sure that it would screw in far enough to compensate for the 14's recessed bolt... I just hadn't tried it yet

Square - I'm with you on the shiny thing... I wish they had a black powdercoated option. Mine is just brushed stainless, so it won't be too bad. My brother got the polished version for his XX... that's a little too shiny for me...

The inserts for the ZZR1200.ZX12R and ZX14 are one in the same...I took the Throttlemeisters off my Busa and ordered the inserts right from Marker Machine for 15 bucks shipped...so that's how I know Matt. The insert has a different bolt than the one from my Booosah.

Yeah I've got the brushed stainless on my XX too. I was thinking about an NEP though, might be easier to "tune" and I know it's a lot cheaper. Wonder what I'd need to do to fit one up...are they "one size fits all"?

They offer black finishes for $10 extra. Not sure if so for the ZX14 version though.

i have the throttlemeisters on my 12, but don't think they'll stay there. IMO they are hard/inconvenient to engage & disengage. if u just set them and cruise for hourse, then that's fine, but in my experience something makes u slow down every couple minutes. i plan on trying the type where u hit a thumb switch on the left size of the grip; that seems liek a much mroe userfriendly mechanism. anyone tried that style? thoughts?

Nah FBA...Tony's brain did a 12'0clock and looped and is currently being run over by semi's on the expressway.

Tony, bro, in case you didn't know this, motorcycles can be used for long distance touring. Unless you want to end up with a claw for a right hand, you'd like to have some kind of throttle lock (also known as CRUISE) on the bike when you happen to hit some long droning roads between twisties. Having ridden my XX to California and back, to the east coast as well, I consider myself a long distance tourer. Now, that said, there ARE some websites that pander to the wheelie/street race crowd...you might want to check one of those out...this forum is for RIDERS. Sometimes you have to ride long distances to GET to the "canyons" if you live in the flatlands. C'mon man, add some intelligent discourse to the discussion or go find a board that is more to your liking. Sheesh.

He might actually find a board to his liking; question is -- will the board like him? My most frequent use of the T/M is to rest the right hand for a minute or so during the touring part of the ride...
