Click this url above to view the performance change with the plates removed. I had the body work out for paint, put it back on, went to a trackday on Sunday. I also have a bridge for sale too.

Ya see what happens when I get hold of a PC, and start clicking in it? I hit the "shitft" key to get out of 2nd gear, and all I get are, CAPITAL LETTERS!
Fish, I'll trade you a subthrottle plate for an "edit" button. If you only knew what I go through before I click, "Submit Reply."

"wazfst1tyme'' is the name you search on webshots.com Click the "Race" file. Scroll to bottom, click the "subthrottle" photo.
Aren't you glad I don't work on your bike!

That's not a 14 but that's damn impressive, whoever it is...takes a hell of a lot of skill to do that. Don't think I'll be doing that anytime soon though...

quote: The ECU is programmed to fall short on power delivery from idle or thereabouts, to 5k or so...how can a sprocket change the program? The laws of physics can't be changed by a sprocket, dude...all that happens is that it revs through the gears quicker, but won't change the dip or move it up or down...yes it'll be quicker with your 16t setup, but will NOT change the power or torque numbers at all.
Never said it would change the power or torque on the dyno. Nor did I imply that the sprocket changes the "laws of physics" as far as power, DUDE, but your comment proves the point. If the bike revs through the gears quicker, then it's more responsive. Who gives a shit if the dyno curve is the same (which it obviously is), as long as the bike moves out quicker. All things being equal, a 16T equiped bike will walk away from a 17T bike. That's because the difference is about a 6% reduction in gearing, and "the laws of physics" dictate that shorter gearing means more effective torque to the ground.
If what you're looking for is more power/torque FROM THE MOTOR, then, yes, it's tuning. I'd like that too. BUT, until that's available, the sprocket change is the best bang for the buck, at around $25.
BTW, the sprocket is the same fit as a ZX-12. Just order, from any sprocket mfr., a 16T for a ZX-12. Mine's a Sunstar.

Can you see the box in the upper right of the subtrottle photo? That's worth about 2/3rds ($1,000 plus) the cost of one top of the line 4 into 1 pipe sitting there. I ate a throttle body unit.
Pulled the sub's TPS (throttle position sensor) off. Cranked the sub's gear box a bunch of times trying to figure out things. All this with the unit in the bike. I did this the very first night in fact. Didn't even ride the bike.
It cost me a code 32. The short story is that only way to replace any of the 3 electrical units is to buy the whole throttle body assembly.
The unit out of the cardboard box is on the bike. I learned an expensive lesson. I gave it a shot. I knew going in I may cause harm. I doubt touching wires together will do anything but spit more codes.
I'm just you're Joe average rider. I know what (most of) you are chasing for in the 14. I knew without riding this bike it was going to be dangerous if you wanted to play rough in street traffic.
If Kaw is listening, they better throw some bark down at the bottom if want to sell something for next year. Because if Suz is reading all this about the lag (which is not a bad thing really), they are going to offer (or should offer) a "stump puller" of a bike... then for sure they'll steal quite a few riders off the 14.
You have the cam, and sprocket sensors tied in with the throttle body. It's just too complicated without being one of the engineers that designed all of this. I'm just a "turn key" kind of guy now. I took my swing at bat.

Pretty sure that that's Deals gap and I remember that some dude on a Wing set a speed record through there about 4 years ago...that fucker can ride....just goes to show you, all about the rider and less about the bike! That's some nasty shit and serious peg and fairing scraping going on there...

you can see the six just tork out of the corners on the power sooner with out the worry of breaking traction or high side. It's all about carrying corner speed and getting on the gas first.
