Goddamned road debris....

Sigh...rode in today. On the way in I saw a piece of road debris kicked up by the car in front of me. Quick dip to the right and I thought I avoided it as I saw it bouncing over to the shoulder in my rearview. Thought nothing else of it and rode on in to work. Somone just came to my desk and asked if I had an accident on the new bike. Hell no! WHY? They saw the "crack" in my left side fairing and thought I hit something. FUCK. I go outside and look and yup, clear as day, there is a big ass gash in my left mid, just above the bolt line to the lower. What the fuck. I guess I didn't miss the crap on the e-way. So...how much is a left side mid and does anyone have the part number?

Go to www.buykawasaki.com and look at the online microfiche. Call Ron Ayers (www.ronayers.com) with the part number. Best price, fastest delivery

Bleh...$185.84 + shipping for the left side mid...but at least it comes painted and with decals, so all I have to do is put it on. The hardest part is going to be living with the damned crack in my fairing for 7 friggen days waiting on the part to arrive. Sheesh. Guess it's a good thing the Kawi fairing is in so many peices. What with the upper, the mid, the lower, for each side, that should make individual parts cheaper. My XX fairings are $350+ each side. I guess that would be about the same if I had to order a complete side.

Lucky it did not hit your radiator as you would probably be parked right now. I have a radiator cover screen on order from Cox Racing. The radiator is too vulnerable as it is currently on the '14 or any bike for that matter. One jagged stone at highway speeds and you are parked.

Do you have an ETA for your radiator screen? I'd like to order one, but I'm not a big fan of being on a backorder list... sometimes places even charge you for stuff while you wait!

Thats sucks for sure.

The zx-12 fairing is $330 and the decals ($33) and pads ($35) don't come with it, so $185 ain't bad.

Throw your cracked one on Ebay, bet you can get $40 or $50 out of it.

I had just left the Dan Ryan and was passing under the Circle Interchange. I'm sure the debris was probably dragged from the Ryan construction though. Bleh. Even with a bath the hole is still digging at me and I HATE having my bike look less than perfect. A friend said she didn't even notice it but I told her ANY rider is going to notice anything wrong with the bike and sure enough, went to Chicago Cycle so she could test sit on some stuff and a guy asked me about the hole and how it happend. I can't WAIT until the new panel gets here so she can be looking perfect again.

I understand eye sores get under my skin also. I haven't been on the Dan Ryan since they started the construction how bad is it? I wouldn't buy a screw from Chicago Cycle they have VERY RUDE SALES MANAGERS!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL that may well be, but they have more bikes on the floor to sit on than anywhere else close by. I haven't had a problem with sales managers there and I've bought a few bikes from them, all new. I just want my fairing to come so she can look good again.

Did Chicago Cycle give you a discount on your fairing? Last I heared they didn't give discounts to customers. When you buy a bike from Champion Cycle they give you a 15% discount on all parts. It's not a lot but when you are spending hundreds of dollars it helps. Just food for thought.
