The stock side stand looks pretty wimpy to me for a bike that weighs as much as the '14. It seems a little flexy to me. My SV 650 has a much stouter looking stand and weighs 150 lbs less!

I don't know if this'll help but, I make it a habit to perform the following when I get off:

1) Key off in 1st gear ALWAYS
2) Kickstand down
3) Still clutched -- let clutch out and push bike as far forwad as it'll go in the gear
4) Let bike down gently while checking stand until she's firmly planted

NEVER let it down or get off in Neutral...NEVER let her down if the ground is angled to the right. The stand is a bit long on this bike to begin with, might consider changing it to an adjustable aftermarket stand...

Oh by the way..Shawnski, you're a champ in my books man...that was a very thoughtful gesture of you.

+1, the ZRX I had was also noted as having a shitty side stand. Not using FBA's above process would almost guarantee your bike would go down. Not a bad idea to always have something you can throw under the stand pad if you are parking on soft ground or new asphault as well. Saves looking around for a crushed can or something.
