Removal of Middle Fairing

OK, having now given up on getting the exhaust flange nuts on through the openings in the middle fairings, I'm ready to remove the damn things. Question: what size/type are the fasteners that hold the fairing to the inner panels? I can't quite see what they are, and have tried about every tool in the box using the braille method without success.

Why the hell do the Japs insist on making sportbike fairings so complex? I could drop the fairings on my Ducati 916 in about four minutes flat. Of course, that was the only good thing about that bike.

If you are talking about the front inside cowling (under headlight and connects side panels to upper), it is a 4mm hex.

What's the trick to getting the lowers off? Seems like they "snap" into the mids along with being secured by screws.

After removing the fasteners, lift the bottom outwards.
