ZX-14 or ZX 13.5

Hello everybody? I have a question to all the Techs out there. The one who know about the 14 power with in. I'm a newbie so to the vets out there ........Take it easssssssy

Why did Kawasaki make the 14 with only 1352 displacment?
Do you think that Kawasaki will come out with another model with a higher displacement?

I have my reason for asking these question. Just wanted to see some of the replies.

Easy, Kawasaki has always done more with less, sort of a braggers rights. I suspect that it's also a CYA Heres a little History
197- Kaw Mach 3 cleaned the clocks of the CB750
1973 Z1 ...Do I have to explain this one?
1984 Ninja 900. another milstone
1988 ZX-10 speed king against everyone 1000+ cc's
1990 ZX-11 a gentleman's bike and king of speed til 1997's CBR 1100 1052 vs 1100 and that was not an across the board, some mags gave the speed king crown to the ZX.
2006 well it's like 1990 all over again, but lets be fair the Busa getting everyone upset in Europe neutered the ZX-12R my thinking.
Pays to be origanal.

This is one of the reson why I ask the question. So it would be safe to say that another model of the 14 would come out stronger than the 06? If this becomes true, (and were just talking) How would the owners feel about having the same bike without the power?

Thanks everyone for the knowledge.

BINGO!! Think they care what you feel? Its all about keeping sales. A stronger bike to compete with the Busa in coming years will only sell better. Why do you think 1000's change every 2 years? They know we'll keep buying them!

My guess is that Kawasaki was limited to the dimensions of the earlier engines .The head gaskets for the zx12 and the zx14 are the same part number so I think that the cylinder bores are a big as they could get them without making the engine wider . I am sure that a longer stroke would also require a longer rod and that would make the engine taller as well as move the redline down with the increase in piston speed.

I think the bottom line is gonna be that this was the maximum bore and stroke that kawasaki could fit into that size package. Has anyone seen or heard of anyone making a big bore kit or a stroker crank for the 14 ?

No because I would of never ask that. It would of been a dumb ASS question if you could prove that I would of said that. Everybody else is answering the question except you. That why I said the tech guys. If you did not get your mother day flowers I can see why. 1352 just seems to me that the motor has room to grow. It had to be a reason why Kawasaki did it. That why I ask ........NO MORE.......NO LESS!

It can go 3mm more on bore. So there is room to make it a true 14 or bigger. Look at the Busa....all Suzuki needs to do is add a 3mm kit to it and its a 1397. They never had a reason to....before now! Good thing about the Busa is you can add bore AND stroke to it and still keep the motor the same overall size on the outside. It will also take the abuse....its like the "Hemi" of the car world!

I wonder about the "Super bikes " future.
Did anyone catch the artical in the June Sport Rider about the Blackbird XX.

Honda may not answer the call of the super bike wars, from what I read, their
stance is with the limiting of bikes to 186 mph / 300 km why go after something
that has limits.

when making horsepower. actual displacement doesn't mean as much as the state of tune. 1352cc with high compression, big cams, and a high rev limit make for a nasty motor. This is why the 10r is such a beast. Larger throttle bodies than the stock 44mm also make for more horsepower.. But for the low state of tune the zx14 is in its okay.
