rear brakes

Who is less than impressed with the rear brake?
What have you done with it?
Any better?

I have bled and adjusted the pedal height..... to no avail.

Its not that i wish to have a seriously sensitive rear brake.
I realize an overly powerful = locked up rear brake can equal disaster, but mine will not lock the tire at even 15 mph, and thus is not doing much for me at 100 mph.

Progressive power would be better than powerless.

Are your rear brakes like wood too?

Thanks.

I think the rear brake sucks too. I'm only at 35 miles at this point haven't adjusted it yet (but will) somebody has to have a fix or has already fixed this. Let's see what they have to say!

Mine are the same, but then my 10R is the same as that too...I believe that the philosophy behind it is that the rears are really designed for trailbraking and nothing more...I am happy with the rears the way they are, but that's me. Try stainless braided hoses for more pressure with less pull...I have them on the 10R and the HOG, it is better than the stock lines...you get a firmer feel and more pressure overall...

I don't mind them. I rarely use the rear brake, only a little trail braking and at red lights. I have had overly grabby rear brakes on sportbikes before and locked the back up more times than I would have liked. I like a wooden rear brake,if anything would prefer a slipper clutch.

I've put the braided lines on my bike - no difference on the rear.

Thanks ZX, you saved me a few bucks and some time wasted by letting us know...it made a little diff on my 10R, but I guess I won't waste the time on the 14..

The rear brake does feel kind of funny I think you have to just get used
to it. it does'nt really feel like it's engaging when you hit it lightly. But if you
press just a little harder she locks up right away so the breaking is there
just alittle wierd feeling.
