TIRE TIME
Well I just hit the 1,000 mile mark on my blue ZX-14. The rear BT0-14 is 1/2 gone. Front is fine. Thinking about running the Avon 49/46 combo. Any thoughts??? I can do good in the twisties, but no meens am I an expert, do not need super stcky. Compromise stick/mileage. Hate Dunlops and bridgestones
Thanks

I do not know one person that has used them that doesn't like them. A lot.

I had Diablos prior to the Pilot Powers on my 12.
Great tires too.
I don't get into the political bullshit when I purchase products and in todays world economy its almost impossible to follow the "I'm not buying because its owned by and they are anti-American."
Lets assume that your blue Ford is 92% of the blue Fords that you will find on the local Ford dealers lot BlueFord. Its got good old American B.F. Goodrich tires on it.
Only problem is Michelin OWNS B.F. Goodrich. The second problem is that B.F. Goodrich tires suck, but they are cheap which is why manufacturer's use them. They pass all the DOT shit, but they suck. But they are cheap.
Which is why so many bikes come with Dunlops. They suck, but they are cheap.
So, again - try a set of Pilot Powers out. You'll be happy and when it comes to handling and performance politics should stay in Washington where it belongs.

OK I take your point, but who knows, he might not have been aware that Michelin was French and hypothetically, if he had a son in the Marines serving in Afghanistan maybe his patriotism would be more important to him. don't blow a gasket!
Mileage, mileage, mileage, I hate changing a tire at 3,000 miles and because I hate it so much, it inhibits my hammering it off the line, which I love.

Maybe his son's tour in Afghanistan is over and his son is heading to Iraq next?
WTF does that have to do with anything concerning buying Michelins which is a French based company?
So, France was against us (more apropos Bush and his cronies) invading Iraq.
News Flash - THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE'S.
The assholes that blew up the WTC were NOT Iraqi.
You seem to have a real problem differentiating between patriotism and blind unwavering support of a man that has proven to be incompetent in his current positiion.
The end of major combat ended in Iraq exactly 3 years and 1 day ago according to Bush's statement on the deck of the USS Abe Lincoln.
Okay. Tell that to the 2,500 coalition dead.
The cleanup of Katrina was a glowing success.
Okay, tell that to the 10's of thousands still displaced in the Gulf Coast. Thank God for FEMA and GWB!
Oil is at an all time high and oil company profits are the highest they have EVER been (bet GWB's buddies are luvin' that!) but its all good.
Look dude. I'll debate this shit with you over in the SmackHouse, but it doesn't belong here in the 14 forum. Start a thread over there and I'll debate you.
Thanks.

I use the PIlot Sports, which I know are tough to get in the US...they get 40% more mileage than the kaki BT014's..I have bud's that swear by the Pilot Power's too...my wife and I have had great success with mileage and handling on the Sport's...anything except Barfstone and Metz...they both suck...

Much of what you say is true unfortunately.
I mentioned the war because I'm guilty of personalizing my comments for affect, you probably weren't aware that I do that
Forget the war, except for a few actresses that I would sell my sole for, they're bad peeps!

Didn't expect you to pussy out so easily on the GW stuff, but I'll skootch over to the SmackHouse to see what schooling you have in store for me (or me for you LOL).

I have Pilot Powers on my Triumph and love them. I will probably change to a set of Pilot's as soon as the rear Bridgestone gives up.

Im currently running Pilot Powers on my ZRX1200 ....... their great tires.
I thought when I got my 14, I would put them on it as well. I have heard
alot of good things about the Qualifiers also. I may try a set of those on
the 14 instead. Im not one to really care about milage out of a tire, I just
want them to work, since my riding is more nites after work and week-
ends, comuting on the bike is rare.

Yea, it is a French company, but most of the Michelin motorcycle sport tires are made in Spain.
Like Blitzkrieg said, it's all a global economy.
