wheelies
I find that a hweelie on this bike is quite different. higher rpms I can pop one easy, also with clutch work. but off the line low rpm throttle wheelies aren't easy on mine. It becomes jerky and goes like hell straigt forward, which is great when drag racing but not when doing tricks.

Definitely not built for wheelies... I doubt Kawi had that as a goal when they designed this bike

Buy a XR 600 and leave the front wheel at home.

I wouldn't call a simple straightforward wheelie a stunt. Just a part of life on a sportbike...

Wheelies 2
If you don't pop wheelies on a sportbike, you have no business on one. Please don't respond with an idiot remark.

Quite agree, Forget first and second gears, had my GSX-R1000K5 popping the front up when changing up clutchless from third to fourth yesterday. That would be about 140mph. FANTASTIC !

You might as well say all bikers are bad guys just beacause grannie got frightened by one once. Next stop narrow-minded predjudice.

As much as I like wheelies, this bike was not built to perform them, long wheelbase, front biased weight.
I think they designed this bike to keep the front on the ground because thats what = good E.T.
wheeelies hurt E.T.
If I want to wheelie I take out my CR500AF.
73 RWHP 225 lbs, and little damage incurred when looped.
I like my front end on the ground on the streets.
I have a hard time steering away from cagers when the frt tire is 3 feet off the ground.
Want to wheelie..... buy a liter bike! .... or better yet a dirt bike!

Bobc...my point was only that his statement was dumb and I guess...a true display of his feeble intelligence, in that some people actually do prefer two wheels on the ground...so by his logic, they don't deserve a sportbike? Fuck him the MORON...just because someone doesn't pop wheelies on one means they have no business on one? Talk about narrow minded and a lack of intelligence...and by the way, I do pop wheelies...but won't make stupid statements like his...
I think you probably just misunderstood my post...

I would also suggest a young rider---the kind that would do wheelies from the dealer front door to show out. On the 14 this act will get him killed someday. As the saying goes "there is no such ting as older stupid riders".

You made me laugh, but you're right...like my Doctor once said..."we see alot of old sick people walking in here and we see a lot of 350 LB+ people walking in here too, but we don't see any 350+ pounders over 60, because they're mostly dead..."

maybe you have no skill and shouldnt be ridinig at all. motorcycling is dangerous just because a fender bender in a car can be very serious on a bike. but i take offense to someone who buys a 14 and dosent think they should wheelie it. Wheelies are a part of making power i have been riding since i was 16 im 41 now and i wheelie every time i ride. From a gs 1100 e to my 14. if you think its dangerous get a scooter and give the 14 to someone with balls. THATS WHAT FAST BIKES ARE FOR.

Yup...another small-dicked peckerhead with a narow minded point of view. Wheelies aren't a sign of advanced skills, just practice and a few downed bikes along the way; I don't do them often and can't do a 1/2 mile stand up's, but I blow a lot of these guys away on the track and in the corners...Hey TONYHUFFMAN...remember this, at 41, you don't heal as well as at 25...

1 am 49 years old and i am riding for 40 years. doing crazy wheelies like you saw on these video or you see everyday and pepole kill themselves does not justify you are skilled rider. i still ride my bike hard and enjoy the power and the handling etc but do not do stupid things.
i love riding and i want to live to ride.

The funniest part of these guys' defense is that they claim to be skilled because they wheelie, and they infer that all wheelie riders are skilled riders. Yet every time I see these "wheelie" guys (who typically only ride on city streets and on urban highways) out in twisties, they are so scared that they nearly run wide in every corner and are so tense that they must be absolutely exhausted by the end of a moderate stretch of curves.
I'm not saying that the "wheelie fans" in this thread are not skilled - I've never seen them ride - I'm just speaking of personal experience around here.
Wheelie capability does NOT equal riding talent, it ONLY indicates that somebody has practiced riding wheelies!
