1/8 mile ETs and MPH First time out
I told you guys i would post up my numbers( good or bad) for the first time to the strip..
Stock zx14 with only mod being strapped in the front.. 42 psi in the tires .. 300 miles on bike. One oil change at 200 miles
Temps where in the mid 80s and humdity was 76%.
The track was hooking good and i didn't have a spinning problem. But i did have some wheelie problems...The bike was running great making great power..But the rider was having some problems ....For the last year i have been racing my zrx1200r and have gotten very good on it ..The zx14 is a hand full to drive Vs my zrx and very different to launch, way different !! I Avg 1.45 60 footers on my zrx and the 4 runs that i got i could only muster 1.69..If you know anything about drag racing you will know that a 1.69 60 footer sucks ....
First run >> 1.79 60 foot
6.60 @107
That run i missed third gear and coasted to the finsh line ..
Second run> 1.69 60 foot
6.56@ 114.67
That run i bumped the rev limiter on the first to second gear change..
Third run>> 1.73 60 foot
6.50@114.84
That run i has a big wheel stand in first and back of the throttle ..
Fourth and last run >> 1.69 60 foot
6.42 @115.28
That run i bogged out of the hole then did a nice wheely when the power came back on.. But that was my best of the 4 runs i got from 6:00 to 11:00 .. Four fuggin runs in 5 hours !! Yes my track sucks...
As i said it's not the bike falt it's the rider (ME) that caused the problems.. On my other bike i run 114 MPH in the 1/8 mile and ETs are 6.08 to 6.10 and my 60 foots are 1.45 ... So the ZX14 has the MPH to run low 6s but i have not got the skills on this bike to do it yet ..Its going to take alot more seat time to get the hang of the bike , for me anyway.
Not that bad for my first time on the zx14 but i was in hope of better .. I would have gone home feeling alot better if i had gotten in the 6.30s ....That's why they call it drag racing because sometime it's just a drag ...I told you guys i would post good or bad so there you have it...

A Moron on a brand new zx14 flips and wrecks his bike , pictures at 11:00 .....lol...

Thanks Mike .. I have the pipe and 16t on order... I'm thinking 3 to 4 inchs to the arm will be a big help, so i may do that down the road .. I'll keep you guys update as i add the mods and what gains i get from each mod..

Lowered significantly and tied accomplish the same thing... but most people don't want to ride a lowered bike around on the streets all the time because it adversly affects cornering.

My friend that Pilgrim was referring to a while back as having a poor showing at Kennedale, TX was out again Wednesday a week ago to get a little more seat time. Specs were
60'=1.607
330'=4.169 at 89.61mph
1/8=6.27 at 116.31
Air correction factor=1.0700. Bike lowered 1.5" in back and strapped in front. Other than that, completely stock ZX14. Getting better with each run.

I would still prefer to strap one againt one that was lowered, and by the way, forget about my bike, you keep bringing it up like I am talking about it, I am talking about the 14, I will talk about my bike on another board.

I don't have those complete #'s, but I think the one you posted was a 6.86. It was the first run he had ever made on the bike. Each run since then has been better. The #'s above were on his second night out.
The owner is having problems with his Internet provider right now, but when he gets that straightened out, he will be able to answer your questions.

Why? You've compared the 14 to other bikes enough on "this" board that it should be fair game to talk about your bike here... dontcha think? He posted his time and listed his only modification. Being honest like that keeps everyone informed so that future comparisons can be made fairly.
I couldn't help but notice that you didn't mention anything about mods on the R1 while you were telling everyone here how much quicker it was than the 14 that night at the track...

The R-1 said he had changed the rear sprocket, you could see that and he told you that. You made up the rest, because it's all stock including the pipes. And if you don't remember him beside you and the Busa, it's because he left you so fast IMHO.

Thinking back on last nights run was i never saw the shift light so i must have been short shifting it .... First to second gear change comes real fast... On my last run i remember seeing the Tack for just a second as i shifted and i shifter somewhere around 7500 rpm ....
One of the bigger problems is a can't hear the motor at all ... The bikes i'm racing with all have loud pipes and it drowns mine out .....My zrx has a Muzzy Meg and i can hear when to shift and rarely look at the Tack ...

Buddy that zx14 is flying..Your friend is going a great job driving the puppy ..I knew last night if i could get a 1.60 60 footer the bike would run 6.20s...But i just could not get the launch down...My ZRX has a ton of torq down low and all i have to do it is 4000 rpm and get the clutch out in the first few feet and bang the throttle and bang 1..45 60s .. The zx14 you need to ride the clutch out quite a ways down track, that will take some time for me to get that in my head. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on the ETs and MPH. If you get a chance get that thing to Ennis and get us some 1/4 numbers ...

He didn't "tell me" anything about sprocket changes, I only heard that from you a week or so ago while we were at the Yamaha dealership.

I didn't make anything up. I've let this forum know what you have done to your bike, that's all.

I've already apologized to you for not seeing him try to do a 3-way rollon with us, that's really not my problem... I wasn't paying attention to him. I was trying to communicate with the 'busa at the time, so I really wasn't paying attention to what the rest of you guys were doing buzzing up and down the freeway playing with eachother. For all I know he was headed off to ride wheelies down the shoulder trying to scare retarded old ladies with only one eyeball...
