Chrome Wheels

Has anyone put chrome wheels on the ZX14 stock or after market? I would like to see pictures without the fancy paint jobs.

Not a great idea; chrome weakens metal...they look great but...

Polished Wheels

Here is a pic of my polished rims. I think they turned out well. No peeling and no cracking .

Warp - I've always wondered how people remove the paint on just the outer part of the rims like that. What did you use to strip the paint while keeping the paint/polish line straight without peeling or cracking?

It is really simple and quick. All you need is some masking tape, aluminum polish, and some paint remover. The kind that come in ann aerosol can. Take you time and put the tape right on the line before the spokes. Tape up the spokes close to the wheel lip. Then spray the paint remover on the paint you want removed. Do about one third of the rim at once on both sides at the bottom. This will prevent the paint remover from dripping in unwanted places. Leave paint remover on for about 10 minutes (or whatever the instructions on the can says) The paint will blister up. You can then remove the unwanted paint with a rag or paper towel. When you've removed all unwanted paint wash the wheel to ensure there's no remover left. Then just apply the polish and rub diligently with a terrycloth. Then use a diaper cloth to remove polish and you're done. No sandpaper required. I hope this helps. Just be careful not to get the paint remover anywhere you dont want paint removed. I did mine with the wheels on the bike. It is safer to remove them if you are not comfortable with this process.

Paint remover for the wheels?

I cant seem 2 get the paint off my zx12 wheels. I even tried aircraft stripper , and you say paint remover will work? Im beginning 2 think its powdercoat on em instead of paint. Any help would be great.

The warmer the temperature the easier the paint comes off. Aircraft stripper should definately do it though....

I did it on my ZX12, and my ZX10, both were extremely hard to remove(had to apply several coats). Make sure you wear gloves..

I use mar-hyde tal-strip paint remover extra strength. This stuff removes paint with no effort in minutes. I did both wheels in about 1 hour. I did my zx12 also in the same amount of time. you have to leave the remover on until the paint blisters kawasaki-rick, then it will wipe right off.

No it does'nt seem to affect anything but paint. It does not even hurt the paper tape you use to tape the wheels up.
