Some questions about the ZX14

Hello,

I am new to this forum and am thinking of buying a ZZR14 (ZX14) when they are available in the Netherlands at the beginning of June.

I would appreciate it if current owners can answer a few questions.

1. Average fuel mileage, and mileage at about 90Mph on highway.
2. Any webshop that sells goodies for the ZX14 (found one but lost the url :-(
3. Stock exhaust has got to go. Any remapping done by owners who have changed the exhaust? And how much weight has been saved?
4. Current bike is a Yamaha YZF1000R Thunderace (NOT an R1 !) It's 40lbs heavier then an R1 but still handles quite good(have ridden both). So, how does it handle?
5. Is there a maintenance manual(digital) available yet?

Regards
Dooku

do not have all the answers to your questions but i do my best to get as many done.
1. no answer
2. depends what kind of accessory you want to buy, try roaring toyz in web.
3. i put slip on on mine ( muzzy carbon fiber) sounds great . a lot less weight than factory. factory mufflers are very heavy.no remaping needed. if you go with full , you probabley need to put power commander, i had a 02 and 00 zx12r which i put full muzzy only. power is great but it will surge in idle which is cool because people think you got differnt cam on it!!!
4.handle is great in this bike, you do not have to worry about that.
5. do not know the answer.
hope i was help. hope you buy the bike it is great.

Dooku:

1) fuel mileage =17 - 20 km / litre at 160 kmh
3) hindle or brock davidson pipes are making 20-25 RWHP more than stock
power commander will be needed. save 34 lbs!
4) I would imagine it handles better than the Thunderace. Handling is very good and very very stable.

5) my dealer cannot find any maintenance info yet, not even parts fiche, but the info is out there somewhere.

Good luck, you will fall in love!
It is a very refined, responsive , and powerful machine.

The parts fich is on Kawasaki's web site.

True, but both dealers that I've gone to looking for parts (oil filter, centerstand, etc) tell me that the website fiche is notoriously innacurate, so they don't like to do special-orders from it. They also made it sound like if they don't have an actual fiche available, that also means that ordering parts is nearly impossible as the part numbers are not in their online ordering system.

I'm hoping that all of these probablems will go away soon... I just want a damn maintenance manual!
