O.K. rough numbers only ........ keep it down around 1st grade level.

1. "Claimed weight " dry 478 lbs
2. Add oil approx. 13 lbs.
3. Add coolant. approx 15 lbs.
4. Add brake fluid approx 1 lb.
5. Add battery fluid approx 1 lb.
6. 1/2 tank fuel approx. 15 lbs.

Did I miss anything ! = 523 lbs. Approxametly ........ "not exact here"

So, take off the stock exhaust (52 lbs) add the Muzzy (15 lbs) -37 lbs.
Then misc. brackets / hardware / emissions crap (9 lbs) so = 46 lbs.
Then battery from PPS (4lbs lighter than stock) so....................= 50 lbs.
Now stupid stuff like rear fender / brake line swap bla bla (4 lbs.) = 54 lbs.

with out going into more detail .... and or scale manufacture ..... 469 lbs.
If you look at the bikes, there is much much more, I have drag raced for
20+ years and lite bikes are easy to acheive ...... if you know were to look.

Yeh, I just caught the dry weight on Kawasaki's website.

They did a seriously good job of keeping the 14 lean.

There have been some erroneous numbers floating around elsewhere, I read dry was 5XX somewhere else which is way off...

I weighed the seat with the solo seat cover on... almost 9lbs. This was on a digital postal scale good to 1oz. I am going to start making a list of what parts weigh, when i can get my butt of this bike long enough to do it.

Manual shows coolant capacity of 3.6 qt (.4 less than a gallon), 1 gallon of water = 8.345 lbs. so 3.6 qt = 7.92 lbs
Engine oil capacity of 4.2 qt, (1) qt of oil = 1.76 lb so 4.2 qt = 7.4 lbs

Quart of oil would be much heavier than a quart of water...same for coolant, although not as big a diff, but your gallon weights are imperial, not us...I'm pretty sure.

I believe... water is heavier than oil. Oil comes to the top in rainy weather. When there's an oil spill, most (short of heavy packed globules of crude rolling on the ocean floor, but they break apart, float to the top, then eventually evaporate) is floating on top of the ocean/water. When a car blows a head-gasket, you can (literally) crack the oil drain plug bolt, and clean coolant will drip out first, then a mix of both.
Never weighed water/oil, but my guess is water being heavier of the 2. I see 4, or 5 quarts of oil in a crankcase. What amount of water is in the radiator made it's way to the bottom of the drain pan.
Nothing scientific, just observations being around engines.

Not so, water is heavier than oil and all weight is in US pounds, coolant is a 50/50 mix and the difference very minor, just posted to show the most each could weigh on the 14, about half of what was posted above.

Again .... I just wanted simple math, coolants more like 4 lbs, brake fluid about 10 oz,
it was only to show that weight can be brought down quickly from the claimed "dry"
weight.
