So what is the list thus far?
rear license plate parachute
emissions pump, tubing, etc.
exhaust swap
factory brake lines with aftermarket (how much is this worth?)
Other ideas:
-----------------------------
mirrors
5 helium bags stuffed in various crevices
no seat, just some black memory foam to sit on
why so many clutch plates, just remove 2 or 3
remove air from tires, replace with helium
front reflectors, front air deflectors
eliminate any excess wiring, factory always makes them too long
exactly the right amount of oil
chain guard
rear foot pegs and guards
shorted front fender

I think the math is a little flawed.
You may lose 37 lbs. by removing the factory exhaust, but thats not net.
I don't know what the Muzzy for the 14 weighs, but the lightest pipes for the 12 I know of are the Akra and Arata Ti units which weigh in at like 11 lbs if I remember correctly. So being really generous lets say the Muzzy weighs 10 lbs (verrrrrry generous I am sure). In that case removing the factory exhaust nets you 27 lbs.
So there is an additional 53 lbs remaining to be accounted for. I'm intimately familar with Kawasaki's Kleen Air setup and the whole contraption might weigh 1-1.5 lbs.
I can't see how one could get a 14 down to 470 lbs. wet even running Marchesini's and other high dollar lightening goodies. In fact doing a mock diet with an unlimited budget the best I can do is around 505 lbs, and thats spending some serious $$$$.
My main interest is if you were able to get a 14 down to 470 lbs wet with limited expense I should be able to get my R1 down to about 310 lbs and I'm all for that.

Remember he said it was half tank so you can take another 20-25 offa the 53 pounds.
I could see another 2-3 pounds with rear peg elimination and I guess you could lose the belly pan wing for another pound or 2, lose the mirrors for another 2-3 pounds and don't fprget the toolkit which is prolly at least 3 pounds...
Dunno how he did it but I'm real interested.

This is usually where somebody says "I was just kidding and trying to figure out how much the guys on this site know".
Also, to clarify - when I say WET, I mean WET. Fully wet.
Full tank of gas, full of oil, full of anti-freeze, full of fork oil and full of brake fluid. Othwerwise we get into semantic's like wet means "some" gas which could mean half a cup.
At an average 6.2 lbs per gallon, I could put 12 oz. of gas in my R1 and say its "wet" but that really saves me 30 + lbs over a full tank.
The mfg's like to play those games, but homie does not.

I was'nt gonna respond, but lets keep this rolling along. My bike was weighed in at the dragstrip ..... a certified scale "no".
But .... I have weighed MY bike. I might guess that most of the responses are based
on what you've read. If any of you have weighed YOUR bikes then please post it.
"D" FYI only .
Each muffler on the ZX is 18 lbs - the header is 16 lbs = 52 lbs

Why wouldn't you respond? It's just friendly banter.
I don't own a 14.
I have heard everywhere from 32 lbs. to 52 lbs. on the factory exhaust.
However, you yourself posted above "Aside from the 37 lbs on the exhaust, I have a box of "un-needed" items I removed".
So what is it? 52 lbs or 37 lbs? Thats a pretty big difference bro.

So you're saying the Muzzy weighs 15 lbs and the stock exhaust weighs 52 lbs?
Just trying to get my facts on this new 14 straight.

No your main interest is highlighting your liter bike's advantage over a 14 and you sir are a troll.

Nope. I'm not trolling.
On the contrary I like the 14. I just need some cold, hard proof that the bike can be brought down to 470 lbs., because if so it's going to be a tough act to follow.

Can I buy that scale
I need to lose loose weight (fat) on my weist
The easiest way would be to use that 550lbs => 470lbs measuring
