Bridgestone tire

Hey guys have a question what do you guys think about the bridgestone tires on the 14. I mean i have notice that almost all new bikes come wiht bridgestones. Hwta happen to the dunlops.. Not to say i am a fan of either i was just wondering.Thwy had a write up in the motor cyclist magiazine about them on the 14. I have not used them since they were the cheapest 200 series tire out ther for the 12 back in 2000. I know i will be puttin a pilot power on shinko super soft as soon as possible but just curios on what you guys think

The Bridgestone is a dual compound tire. Softer on the sides, harder in the middle. Great street tire, but prolly not a good choice for the strip.

I put the 014's on my 96 GPZ last summer before we went to Deal's Gap. ( Tail Of The Dragon ) Rode the corners hard enough to scrape the foot pegs. All the way out to the chicken strips. Not even the slighest hint of letting go.

I loved the 010s on my 12,, but they came apart at a track day. Five hot laps and they looked like shag carpet.

The Bridgestone and Dunlop OE tires are limited in handling and wear IMO -- good for max 3k miles on the rear with no real handling benefit.. PIlot Sport HPX or even Power's will get you 40% more wear with a better adhesion factor in wet and dry conditions. This from experience on my 10R, R1 and my Busa...I usually buy 6-7 rears and 3-4 fronts at the beginning of the season when they go on sale at 50% off list and just use 'em through the season. I have used the 014's on the Busa, but found they wore fast...and had a tendency to stick less than the HPX on the Busa...the effect was not as pronounced on the liter bikes but was still there.

It's not just a BT014. It's a BT014L, specially built for the ZX-14, apparently.

There's an add'l belt in the rear to handle the weight and HP, IIRC from the Sport Rider article.
