Lowering Links Pros And Cons.
Other than strait line acceleration being the reason to have them, less wheel in the air, how adversly does it affect the handling of the bike?

lowering for what purpose? because you want to dragrace, or because you need the shorter bike ie: you're not tall/ feet not planted.
In second scenario issue arises with front geometry being put out of wack. Lowering the front end can solve this, but Muzzys has never provided amounts to lower the front end by.
One of our member's ( Sagot ) suggested the only real way to keep the geometry of the bike would be to use a bubble protractor to determine the rake and then lower the bike in the front to conserve this amount.

Yep.
I'd still worry bout rippin off a drain plug/oil pan or header though - of course, all my riding is on the street though.
Think about yer pegs/fairing/mufflers all bein lower (by however much ya lower the bike by) to the ground.

I have rode many bikes with lowering links on them and it doesnt have a ill effect on handling on the street. If you was to do this to a track only bike you would probaly notice alittle difference. It's not like your going to put them on and bike will "feel" totally different. We ride all our bikes on the street and run 140-160mph thru the traps and dont have any handling issues with our bikes. Bottoming out usually isnt that bad...unless you have a wildabeast on the back.... it shouldnt be a issue

I ride a zx9r that is down 4 inches in the back and 2 in the front, unless it's strapped then it's all the way down. I don't ride around on the street with it strapped though. I have maybe 2.5 inches of ground clearance, I can't even fit an oil tub under the bike to change the oil. As far as bottoming out, the only parts that hit the ground are the rear suspension links. When they scrape, I can't even feel it. My friends just tell me because sparks fly out. Don't fool yourself, the bikes ride like absolute shit. A huge bump at speed and you will be airborne. The turn in is so damn slow it's like racing a 60s cadillac around laguna seca. It is only fun when I can keep the front down and put buslengths on other bikes while they're fighting the front wheel, everything else about it completely sucks. Not that I really care, I don't give 2 shits about turning. The only turns I make are 90* or on the return road.

So what you guys are saying is if I lowered the bike it should not have that big of an effect on the overall handling if done in moderation?

Yah, links aren't too bad, make it steer lazy unless you drop the front also. Strap is very very bad for handling.

They're fine if you only go down 2" all around or less, anything more than that and it starts to get weird.

I drop all my bikes (drag racer) I drop my zx10 1 1/2 rear and 1 in front.....I don't ride twistes so i can tell and don't care if it turns a little harder ....I loaned my zx10 to a friend that has a Gixxer 1000 after 4 hours of riding he said to me this thing handles real good, better than my Gixxer... As far as the kick stand i buy an extra one off ebay cheap and shorten it by 2 inches.....That way i can allways go back to stock if needed ....

Ignoring any pose value and the already mentioned start line benefits, lowering a bike also helps with top speed.

Definitely, it makes a huge difference with wind resistance just cruising on the highway.
