KMC Comments on Delivery Date for ZX-14
Directly from KMC's public relations department. We received this release today via email.
You have already read part or all of this in another thread:
quote: After a lengthy and exacting inspection process to ensure that all components meet the high standards for excellence and performance expected for this flagship model, the Ninja ZX-14s will begin to ship to dealers late next week. As all of the recent print and on-line stories have reported, this motorcycle is well worth the wait.
Thank you for your patience.
No where does it state there are any problems or issues with the bikes. That is pure speculation. Since we still have a few day left before they arrive.. ... you may continue to speculate.

Fish, I still want to know what they were doing to every bike in the warehouse. Whatever they say "exacting inspection" after shipping is very unusual. You are very loyal and they probably don't deserve you but I would like more information as it's my backside that's going to be in the saddle at, hopefully, very high speeds.

I dont think that shipping and distribution in 2000 has anything to do with shipping and distribution in 2006.

Hi all,
I just got done talking to the Kawasaki rep X3 meaning I kept moving up the ladder until I got a lead/Sup whatever you call them. I told him that the dealer in Daytona is telling me that the ZX-14 will not be in until July/August time frame, Customs are holding things up. If this is the case maybe I'll just wait til the 07's come out. He said that the bikes are here and ready to go and the goal is to have every dealer get the first one late next week. After that it could take some time before the rest of bikes make it in but the goal is clearly to get 1 ZX-14 to the people next week. He also said that Kawasaki will do the best they can getting the colors to the dealers that have deposits. I told the guy that if I did not hear of anyone getting a bike by the 24th I will seriously consider pulling my deposit. He assured me that he felt confident that I'd be riding by the 24th, We will see. He did put to rest one thing the bikes are thru customs.

Corporate speak translation:
We fucked something up. Someone caught it. We went through all of the assembled bikes and fixed it so we wouldn't piss people off or get our asses sued. We will have one bike in each dealership by the end of the month so we can say that they were in the dealerships in April as we said.
Kudos to Kawasaki for making sure the bikes are up to standards before shipping. It will be worth the wait.

As a matter of interest, since the opening to this thread lends some credance to the Kawi. bulletin threat I started, the bulletin does say: "Any needed adjustments are being made before the product is released to dealerships." Doesn't seem they'd make mention of it if there wasn't an issue being addressed. Seems probable to me, anyway. Especially coupled w/the other info. given. As I said, a lot of pieces fit together...

For the record, Kawasaki did change the web site from April 06 to Spring 06. A little CYA I'm guessing.

Think of the work that the so called "inspection" involved if the bikes were here in the warehouse. Each one would have to have the crate opened and the packing and hold down rails unbolted. Then the bike would have to be "inspected": then re-bolted and any packing material replaced, then the crate would have to be re-assembled. Multiply this by even a couple hundred bikes and you can see why this took so long.
For a company to do this there would almost certainly have to be a very good reason such as a defective part.
It's odd that they did not instruct the dealers to fix what ever it was. I just don't buy that they would spend all this time and money for a simple "inspection"
None the less, I repeat, a big thumbs up to Kawi for doing this now and on their own rather than hiding their head in the sand.
