....osti, is your's as pristine as this one appears to be?....how about 4.75K~6K for something like this?...personally, I prefer the blue '75 Z-1B that was shown earlier....if had the extra money I'd pay a fair price for one of those, particularly THAT one since it appears to have been done RIGHT...

You notice it has what looks like 29 smooth bores instead of originals.

Z-1's have the big 28 mm carbs...KZ900's /1000's have the smaller 26's.If that bike is an original piece...#'s match and orig pipes....it might fetch that money.Just need to find someone who is hot for a Z-1

In a second. It's a VERY nice restoration. Too nice to be an unmolested original, though and it does have the 29's which is a definite plus, even though non-original. Those 73-75 carbs were a cluster to set up.

How can you identify the 29mm smooth bores from the pic?

DB-
It's a matter of "heritage".
Brooklyn-
The tall caps over the slides which conceal the slide lift linkages are the easiest way to tell.
The 73-75 Z-1 A&B carbs had the flat polished covers with the external linkage.
Having said that, the carbs COULD be 76-77 KZ carbs which also have the concealed linkage, but the assumption is that if you're going to swap carbs you'd use the 29mm smoothbore replacements which look pretty much the same. They look like 29's to me especially since they are over-polished.

Hey thanks, That was a neat project.
Brooklyn,
You're right, the more I think about it, I don't think you really can tell the 29's from the 26's can you?

I'm staring at those carbs now....lol...I'm stumped...but what you are saying makes sense DM,the tops on the 28's are flatter....the 29's are more pronounced.I have a set of 29's...I have a 76 KZ with a Yosh 1002 cc kit with a Yosh close ratio gear box and a Yosh ported cylinder head...just waiting for an aftermarket frame to pop up...maybe a Bimota or a Rickman .....

I had a nice Rickman with the mags and lockheed brakes, with a 1080, Andrews 3x, 29's. That was a SOLID bike.
Remember the white full Yosh Z-1 that was on the cover of Cycle? I built that exact bike, bought every piece from Pops. Painted it lime green, though.
I'll have to figure out how to post some pics. Jonathan?

BTW there is someone in my neighborhood with a Rickman Endurance with a Z-1 motor that has been parked in his driveway outdoors, uncovered for 20+ yrs..go figure. What a shame!
