First Ride of the Year
Well, first ride on my SV 650...........................not the 'missing in action'14! Still lots of snow out in the fields around Edmonton, but the roads are dry. It was +14C, so not a bad riding day for this time of year.
The first part of April is early in these parts to have your bike out so I look at these as 'bonus' riding days to be out this early.
The SV is really a great little bike for batting around the back roads. It handles really well and is so light it is easy to toss around. Still lots of sand and gravel on the roads, so I had to be ultra conservative around the corners. Because it does not have allot of power you run it hard and not get into insanely high speeds. I've got the naked version, it feels similar in some ways to riding a big dirt bike.
It's good to get some miles in on my 'trainer' bike before getting the '14. The '14 only has like 100 horsepower MORE at the rear wheel and more than twice the torque of the SV!
Wish I still had my ZRX, but I did get a good price on it when I sold it a few months back. At least I have something to ride while waiting for the '14.

First big ride for me this year will be starting Friday. 3-day trip to Arkansas. Just mounted a new Pilot Power on the rear thanks to having no 14 to ride. I'll be removing this new tire as soon as I return to Texas in preparation for trading the bike in. That's the tire that the dealer saw... that's the one he's getting... it's not quite to the wear marks yet, maybe 1/32 left
