What to do.
You know I've had my deposit for the ZX-14 for a little over a week. We had made a OK deal not as good as some of the others here. Price was 12,550 with centerstand OTD. When I talked to the Manager today he says that within 2 weeks the first 1 will come in. I was under the impression that if the first one were Blue it was mine. Well it seems either the salesman did not know there was a deposit on the first Blue or he got more Money for the first blue but I'm second in line now... Well I know there is 3 deposits on the Black, none on the red so I guess I'll get first right to refuse the red but I have to say I feel shafted. What would you all do, I suspect pulling my deposit is not going to be a difficult thing to do, yet there is a 50% chance the guy who beat me will back out. I'm sure there are several dealers here who have no deposits and 4 of them will call me when the bike makes it in, but I'm pretty miffed, what say you. Am I justified?

I would wait. It depends on how many bikes each dealer is getting. Also remember that on the prices the difference between currencies in comparing prices in this forum. Some are US and some are Canadian.

I ran into the same kind of crap on my '04 10R. I was assured that I had dibs on the first green bike to arrive, but it turned out that another sales type had promised it to a customer. Since I've only bought three bikes and a Jet Ski from this shop, the other guy got his. I went elsewhere and found a green one on the floor at a better price, but the SOBs wouldn't refund my $500, but only give me a store credit for it.

I have an advantage put the payment on credit card so I can contest it, and get the money back. In Florida it has to be explained that the deposit is non refundable or at least our dealership requires us to do it. For example if you put a deposit down on a car you can get it back EXCEPT the Insight. We have to explain that this car is being bulit for that person and once we put in an order it's yours. My point is I'll yank the deposit if the bike comes in at another dealer. Look if you come to my dealership and you want to get the next say Civic SI that comes in May it's got your name on it with Deposit. I specificly put my deposit down on the first Blue Not the Second. That's my thinking and the more I think about it the more I'm getting ticked about it. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

Seriously, mine with tax (6.5%)and license was over $1,000 less than your paying.
Go to another dealer. That much cash will get you a full Muzzy system plus change. Or a years insurance payment plus change.

I got mine from the owner, he is the one and only sales man at this small dealership..... I was the first to pay in full for a zx14... He does have a guy that has dibs on the second one.. My dealer thinks he is getting two in this week but from what i read on the web sites the dealers will be getting just ONE the first time around......I wanted a black one and the other guy wants a blue one... Dealer thinks that's the colors he has coming ....Good news he told me i have the first one no matter what colors it is... If the blue shows up first (or red) i'm taking that puppy home....... and the poor other guy will have to wait !!!!!!

No offense to you, but you are willing to completely alienate your choice of colors even though you already paid for it just to get "the first one"?

Blue is my fav color but all i have seen is photos so it hard to know if it strikes me.... I have never owned a red bike or car, maybe it's time i did ...I will have to see the red in day light to know for sure ... If it's the lip stick red that was on the 05 busas forget about it !!!! I passed on an 05 red Busa and got a silver and black 05 busa ...

The Blue is quite striking when you see it in person. Not at all like most of the photos.
The red is really overpowering on a bike this big. It is a basic fire engine bright red. It looks really good in the brochure but thats against a solid black background. It's not terrible, but at the end of the year, I'll bet it's the red ones sitting on the floor with the closeout, "end of season" price tag.
My dealer is getting 14 bikes in. 7 black ones are pre-sold, 1 blue one (mine) and no red bikes pre sold.
The black looks cool but it's a pain to keep looking good. Everything shows on black.

Thanks for the advice all. With me it's the principal, If I was told that I would be putting my money on the second blue one I would have walked. I'm really not that bothered by either Blue or Black although I suspect Black would win in a poll, but red is out. I was burned out with red after the VFR. Thank God Kawasaki did not blend any colors in the 14, I like my bikes solid....Although a repeat of the 1991 ZX-11 Black with red strip in the middle...I could live with that. I've gotten a couple of quotes locally but none were less than 12,500 without centerstand.
