Kawasaki: Loyal customers deserve a corporate announcement

In light of unforseen circumstances somthing has caused a delay....

At this point, coming out and being honest about a reasonable expectation for delivery dates would be reasonable, respectable, and an honest approach.

I would think leading (or misleading ) people on ......would do much damage to the corporate image.

Most people will respect, and honour your integrity if such a statement is made.
Failure to do so may piss off, even the reasonable customers.

Many are not willing to wait for June to receive their new motorcycle, no matter what kind it is... and understandably so.

I would at least be appreciative of a corporation and remember their honour, for my next purchase if they were honest about a delivery, and this opportunity did not materialize.
I would give them my next opportunity for my business.

If someone is not honourable and tries to fool me into waiting for June, the opportunity for my business would be forever lost.

I would think a personal call to all customers who have pre paid, or a staement with a bill of lading or some kind of document providing insight to delivery dates, posted on the site would suffice.

Humans are not perfect... nor are we mushrooms.
We can not survive in the dark.

Thank you!

Heck, they've already got $14,000 of your money... why do they need to say anything at this point?

I only gave the suckers $350 for dibs on the first to arrive at my dealership...

Fish, KMC sales repersenative in this market told our dealers that the bike would be here in mid to late Febuary, And the dealers said the info has come from more than once source at Kaw. feb, then at daytona, then the banner said march, then they change it to April.. and whats next??

Yes, killing time is the primary activity right now, you definitely got that right.

1. As far as misleading people, both dealers that I spoke with last fall said that Kawasaki told them that the bike would be here in late February, early March. They were given that information at the dealer show when the ZX-14 was introduced to them.

2. Also, the Kawasaki reps present at the IMS Motorcycle Show in Dallas in November also told me that the ZX-14 would be available in late February, early March.

3. The Kawasaki Consumer line also told me that the ZX-14 would be available in late February, early March when I called them in November.

That's four sources that I person (counting each independent dealer separately) that each told me, personally, that the bike would be available in Feb/Mar. Sure, you will probably argue that a press release and demo rides at Daytona were "on time", but I disagree. When a consumer is talking to a dealer, or Kawasaki directly, and they tell you Feb/Mar, what else are you supposed to expect? Those comments indicated that the ZX-14 would be in CONSUMER'S hands by that timeframe.

Nobody lied, nothing's in print, it's all vapor, in the end it really doesn't matter. That's why we are all still waiting. I just wish Kawasaki would be a little more accurate with their information, or give us SOME new official information indicating otherwise.

Gentleman,
I'll promise you that Kawasaki reps are reading this website. Come on ZX14.com there here but they won't say word one for fear of losing their job. For example lets say all is going well and things are a go for Feb arrival. Then Bam EPA says hold up your FI programs are not consistant !!! lets lean it up a bit or no approval. Guess what Kawasaki is between a rock and a hard spot. So you add people to get the job done quickly and now you have to re-distribute the bikes and should you express them? Sure you build customer respect but now profit on the first units is nothing and a mid year bump in price pisses people off and lets not forget the energy costs have gone up since the Feb etc etc. You wonder why companies work both sides of the politcal isle. Look all it takes is one hard ass with power to make life difficult for a business. Maybe the hard ass has a shipping company, or owns a contracting company that can lean out FI systems and well rub my back I'll rub yours wink wink. I've been in the car ind. for a year now and although sometimes there are real issues maybe paint has to be changed because it failed some test . but for the most part these guys are on top of their game when in comes to due dates, putting a Saturday shift at the factory does wonders for production, happens all the time. I guess I'm defending Kawasaki some, but l'm going to give Kawasaki the benefit of doubt. If nothing else I'll bet there is an 80% chance the delay is not the fault of Kawasaki. Note the above is an example and I have no evedence of anything I've written is true or false. I will going to the shop Tuesday and see if we can get some answers but I'll bet April is a good bet. Just an opinion... I hope I don't lose my job for writing this 8^\.

A quote from Altikawiguy in January

"To everyone else wanting to purchase the 14....they should be on dealers floors in Canada in March sometime(I'm not giving a date because I'm not the dude in Japan who knows when there will be enough made to fill a boat and send it off to North America). Enjoy your ride! "

no problems here.
Little ricky got somewhat upset when I asked for a dynojet graph.
weeks ago.
and on that note I did not pay for a suprise, I paid for a bike!

I just want an idea when our (my) bikes will be here.
2 weeks late? 2 months late?
Have the 1st batch bin made? are they on the boat?
did assembly stop 2 wweks ago and none are complete?
WHAT?
Rumours of Australia, and Europe getting them until June.

My perspective is that I will not wait till June, and if they string people out to then without being forthright, that would be bad business.

When i make a mistake I'm man enough to own up.

My perspective:
If there is a problem and an upfront standup statement is made, then no respect would be lost.

I am not demanding.
I was suggesting.
I don't think its too much to ask, a little info would nice.

Those who don't get it , care, or aren't buying one...... well it would not concern you then would it?

That makes me a liar or deceiving??..get a grip man..I know the snow is pretty much gone in edmonton and you're itchin to ride but you have to have some patience. Rant all you want, it's not going to change the date when the bikes arrive.

Fish,
The VFR site I e-mail from time to time, well I'm amazed at the people who know me. People who I never met or even e-mailed know who I am. In Marysville, Ohio I had a tech tell me that he was aware of the problems that I was having here a solution to problem one, here is a solution to problem 2. He had a RC-51 some there may be some relations to the problems I was having but he knew who I was. Kinda freaky, but think about it, If you were building this bike wouldn't tou want to know what the masses were saying?

Yeah, and some told me that my marriage would last forever and my '00 12R would be at my dealer back in 2/00.

One would hope there is a little more to life then a month or two wait for something that one would cherish for years. In my case, it just made me appreciate my 12R more. Too bad I can't say the same for my ex-wife.
