May Cycle World - No ZX14!
The fact that Kawi won't let the even the major cycle mags test the 14 is making me increasingly concerned that something ain't right. Having the number one slot at my dealer, if a bike shows up within the next few days, I'll be faced with laying out eleven large for the thing based on KHI's marketing hype and the staged and orchestrated Vegas intro party. I need an objective, quantified evaluation before I can be comfortable taking the plunge.

The magazines are published far in advance. You would like a production bike to be the basis for the test right? Not some ringer from the pre-production.
Do you really put that much faith in Cycle World? As for the "staged intro party" all manufactures do that. The production reviews come months later.

I'm sure Cycle World attended the Vegas press intro just like everyone else. Maybe they are waiting until they have a bike under controlled conditions so they can really put it through it's paces before they publish an article? Who really wants to read yet another "wow, this is a great bike, but we really couldn't test it the way *WE* wanted to test it" article? Haven't we read enough of those already? The count has gotta be up to 15 or so by now...
And so we wait...

I say Kawasaki not letting them test do to bad hype over the twelve every other place in the world the twelve got great reviews but the USA wonder why.

??
All the major mags were at the Intro, riding right alongside us. It takes time to print and distribute paper... that's all...
you're conspiracy theories are totally incorrect... you happen to be 100% wrong.
sorry to break it to you.
PS.. what's not objective or qualified about our review or the other reviews you have read online????

Another something odd.......the bikes will be here in April sometime.....right?.......the bikes will be in the consumers hands before they (the magss) even publish a "first ride" much less a "full test".

Sorry fish, I should have qualified my statement by saying that your article was the best I've read so far. And I'm not just blowing smoke up everyone's ass either, I challange anyone to show us an article that was as informative and objective as fish's was. Now all we can hope is that the "big time" mags give us some good reading too!!
Speaking of reading... and since both fish and mike have posted on this thread... WHERE'S MIKE'S ARTICLE?!?!?
I know... work, work, work... yadda... yadda... yadda

So far, the best review of the 12 that I have read is Brock Davidson's, at least for the info I wanted to know.

My 2 cents says that a delay of just a month or two on the shipping of any new model of vehicle is really not that uncommon, yeah it sucks for us to have to wait that much longer but it doesn't necessarily point to a bad product, Kawi. could have just had a problem with a supplier getting parts to them on time there for pushing back the release date. Just one possibility.

after working for so long in the field (advertising) I can tell you that magazines are sent to press about 1 month or 2 before the release date of said issue... especially big volumes ones... so I wouldn't base any assumptions on whether or not the bike is in there.
