Departing Thoughts On The 14

Since reserving the 14, I've found two issues with the bike that I'm not happy about. My interest sunk the day I read the LV reports around the net. I've been fighting the decision to buy or not buy since reading them. The 14 is basically is a non-discretionary buy for me. Therefore, I cannot justify the price of the bike having these two problems. I might be chasing my tail with my wallet by starting out having to fix both. They should have been resolved at the factory level. I love the bike, don't get me wrong. It was a hard decision to make.

This morning, I went to my dealer before watching Daytona. We had an amicable agreement, and everything is well with my dealer. I no longer have a deposit on the 14.

I wish you luck with yours.

Carry on.

#1 hardbag attachments?
#2 seat storage?

I can't think of anything else that people were really disappointed with. Sorry to hear you were let down by the bike, but the touring version of the 1400 might be around next year.

I also have departing thoughts on the 14! Can I justified $11,000 when I have 3 and ½ issues I'm not happy about? I ask you, can I live with myself if I went ahead? Maybe with 2 issues, but no way at 3 and ½.

The issues? I am sorry I can't tell you what they are, they're between me and my God!

This morning, I went to my dealer, we have a loving relationship and after lots of hugs, I bought a Honda.

Tell us damnit! Myself has a couple of issues with the bike and I haven't even seen one. First the bike sits lower than the 12r. Then the wheelbase is longer as well. And then I have a issue with the bike not having a slipper clutch. Besides these issues I have to ride and figure out what I also don't like... Going to get one anyway thou.. There is no such thing as a perfect bike ...... And lets not foget all that bullshit weight of a factory exhaust that has to come off asap..

^^ other than the slipper, all of those other issues can definitely be fixed. Shorter links for the rear, then go a tooth or two larger on the rear and that should pull the wheelbase in a half inch. Then again, the wheelbase doesn't really seem to matter as everyone seems to think the 14 handles better than the 12.

Yeah, I got a couple issues as well.......

1.) The bike is not in my garage yet.

2.) It will not stop snowing here.

Even if I can't ride it at the moment, I'd like to have it home ready for that first long ride........

A lot of people complain about the bike not having a slipper clutch. What did you guys do before they started putting slipper's on production bikes? My ZX-9's or my ZX-12 did not have one, as matter of fact, I have never ridden a bike with one and I've loved them all. Maybe because I've never had a bike with one I don't know what I'm missing. I'll shut up now.

I've done over 190 on a front straight on a ZX12R. Done 9 sec quarter miles and over 200 on a long stretch of pavement before. I don't think anything on the ZX14 (except maybe the Muzzy race turbo) is gonna scare me.
