NEWS: Production bike changed!
NEWS: Production bike changed!
One of the differences between pre-prod & prods is the new cockpit
The Analog gauges should have a longer range eg. wider spread with the same numbers
The redline is now ticket and the oil-warning light could be different
ABS light should be beside it in euromodels (in the rpm meter area)
Euromodels are easy to recognize (sans UK) for only km/h speedo readings
The ABS is ...ready
Sorry, I was interrupted for about ½ hour
and the rest of the info is now lost - dementia!

I can't recall for sure, but the ABS system should have 60 holes (& 60 "bridges") per revolution
They could have 120 "DDR" impulses per revolution of the wheel.
That's accurate enough?!

Also the the ram air opening is a tad smaller on the production model unless you put them side by side and measured you may overlook it but it it is a tad smaller.......................

How is this wonderful French guy having so many pictures available to delight us:
US prodcution bike gauges: 8200 rpm straight up, dashed redline

nigh picture, not so detailde, but look at gauges: its production model

Pre-prod: 9000rpm straight up, solid redline

VPN - I don't understand. Are you saying that ABS on European models was a recent addition? It's been in Euro ZZR1400 photos since the first batch from Kawasaki were released back in September-October.
I've also compared the instrument panel on the pre-production bikes (from the US bike shows) to photos taken by the press in Las Vegas on production bikes. There appears to be no difference. Can you point out what you are talking about in the photos? Thanks!

zerMATT - the ABS is shown here in a pre-prod model
Sorry about the confusion
I was just wondering about system getting 60 or 120 pulses per rotation
I was interrupted in the middle of my writing
so the rest of the comparison is lost forever
I have also cropped from the same picture just the ront wheel with the ABS disc shown
AND
the pictures are not too big
you athers have too small pictures!
How else could we admire every small detail of this beauty
but having these extraordinary pictures?!

VPN - I see what you mean about the 9,000 rpm and redline marking differences now that your pictures are viewable But I don't think that the recess has changed any. Here is a pre-prod picture that I took, followed by a production picture taken in Las Vegas. The camera angle is slightly different, but the recess doesn't appear to be any different.
Also notice on the pre-prod speedo that that 180kph & 110mph line up perfectly, but on the production speedo, they do not line up exactly. I wonder if mph/kph conversions use a new formula since last fall?

VPN, just look at these two pictures closely again. The one with inverted Kawasaki sign is picture of the RIGHT side (not left), but it is inverted (mirror image). It is the throttle/front brake side and not the clutch. Position of the reservoirs will also give you a clue.
