ZX-14 Top Speed Restriction ???

Is there any information yet on whether the 14 is top speed restricted and which parts of the world this might apply to? Most bikes here in the UK have a 300kph (about 186mph) restriction.

If so, what is the preferred method of bypassing this? Favoured methods here include Timing Retard Eliminators, Power Commanders etc.

although it isn't confirmed, one can only assume that it will be restricted.

One can also assume that it wont take long to bypass the restriction!

Virtually every car is restricted now with very few that are unrestricted. Most GM/Ford/Chrysler passenger cars/trucks are at 100 to 120 mph. Most European cars are resticted at 155 mph
My Nissan Altima is restricted at 125 mph. It would easily do another 15 to 20 mph.
Only a few car higher end sports cars are unrestricted, Vettes, Vipers, Ferrari's etc.

...is raising the top speed of the 14 as simple as reducing the number of teeth on the rear sprocket?....wouldn't that change let it speed past 186mph?...even if it meant a 'slightly slower' rate of accelerating towards that top speed?....or does the 'black box' restrict it to 186mph no matter what sprocket combo you use?....

Just exactly where does someone go about getting one of these "TRE" thingys? Is there a website somewhere? Better yet, do we even know if a TRE will be compatible with the ZX-14's electronics? Or are we going to have to settle with a de-compensated "yellow box" speedometer to fool the ECU?

I'm guessing there aren't any real-world answers to this question yet, but I figured it was worth asking.

TRE - timing retard eliminator, the Busa guys use em to trick the ECU into thinking the bike is in fifth gear at all times in orderto bypass the top speed limiter (or sumthin really close to that).

Muzzy produced their "Bonneville Box" to deretrict the 12's and so I'm assuming will produce a similair product for the 14's.

Now all we need is a retard eliminator - I'm gonna miss wormy

Oh, how wrong you are!!!

Almost all american and japanese cars are top speed restricted. The exceptions are certain performance models.

BMW, VW, Audi all restrict the top speed of their performance models to 155.

France doesn't have to...

My GM 1500 falls on it's face at 98/100 mph. Feels like you ran out of gas, but they cut the coils. Once under the high 90's, it kicks right in again. It does't feel like fuel pressure, but electrical instead.
A ''TRE'' for this fix is an HEI ignition, and a 4 BLL carb.

Brock Davidson proved that Busa's run slower in the quarter with TRE's.
