How many actual future owners are out there.

We have read hundreds of threads on this bike. We have argued mute points to the extreme. How many of you are actually getting a ZX-14 in 2006. I am guessing the list is real short, I guess 10 max and that is a high number. So if your not buying why bother? If you are getting one, which dealership and how much did you pay?

Im going to get me one for sure.... £8,995 GBP The shops in UK are taking orders now but due for release to those crazy speeders in the first week of April from KAWASAKI Dealers UK.

Not sure what colour to go for though, as i hear there are different colours for different parts of the world... is this correct.

The Blue one. I'm still shopping for a dealer. I sat on one at the cycle show. Should be a fun summer with a new ride!

The beast is listed $15699 here in Quebec, Canada.
I put $500 cash down on a negociated contract price of $14200 (CDN) plus taxes (7% GST and 7.5% PST) for a black one.
For any who are interested, I got this price at two dealerships, both on the south shore of Montreal: Motosport Newman and Super Moto St-Hilaire.

I'm looking forward to actually sitting on one... The Montreal Bike Show is next weekend. I hope they don't erect an electric fence around the big Ninja as an excuse to protect the so called only show bike. Christ, after Montreal, there are no other shows! They won't need it anymore!

I presently own a 2002 Honda VFR800 (Interceptor). If anyone that has been to a bike show and just so happened to compare ergos between the VFR and the 14, I'd be very interested in getting your comments.

I for one think that, considering 1) the 14's weight and wheel base are nearly identical to the that of the VFR, and 2) considering that the 14's seat height is only 5mm lower and seems narrower than the VFR and 3) considering that the 14's and the VFR'S gas tank's capacity are IDENTICAL, the general feel and handling of the 14 will be familiar territory, acceleration and exhilaration excluded of course... Any comments on this statement?

After a pm I received today from Mr Richard Gadson,
my speculations have been put to rest.

From what I understand, the zx14 appears to be one of , if not then THE MOST STOUT ENGINE DESIGN EVER !
(ability to handle more HP)

Also appears to be purposely detuned -

a conspiracy?

Did you get any feed back on how to get more power without major Engine modifications?

Somehow I thought that was the case. Now we just need to know where do we start with the retune. I know the exhaust has the bike all choked up. Wonder what type of timing retard is in place or other..........crutch?

Do you know what, i recon there is going to be a back log with future owners waiting to get their hands on this beast, i think that Kawasaki will struggle to keep up with demands for this bike for the first few months.

Im just waiting for a reply from the Bank whether they will lend me some cash to get this machine, but until then, i will wait in anticipation and just keep dribbling over the pics of the bike, but i think i will either go for the black one or the Pearl Meteor Grey one, not sure which.

And as it goes i havent even sat on one yet........

I went to the Alley Pally motorbike show here in London at the beginning of Feb, its Londons biggest bike show, and guess what...... they didnt even have the bike there on display, i complained to the Kawasaki promoters on the stand, and they stated that there is only about 4 in the UK at the moment for display purposes and they couldnt get hold of one, i couldnt beleive it, this is Kawasaki's biggest chance to show this beast of to the London crowd where biker groups are so big they turn up in their hundreds to this show, so i just had to settle for what was on display... 10R... 12R.... Nice.

Unfortunately only the "cold type" eg. sitting on the bike ergos are somewhat similar
They are totally different on steering and engine and...
You just have to take a test drive yourself - only you can tel lthe real answer to
"Is this a bike for me?"
My educated and unexperienced guess (my "teacher" for 2005 spring has that VFR 800)
the heavier ZX-14 is nothing compared to the nimble VFR on very snaky roads
Buy a 10R if you want race track performance or even some 6RR or perhaps Daytona
but
ZX-14 has the ultimate torque from idle to top
matched and exceeded only by heavy monsters like Rocket III
so go test ride - say - both 10R and 14 on the very same day (arriving on your VFR)
I take the "easier" 14 any day for my only bike [and ZX-6RRR for a track bike and...]
Thta's one opinion, mate!

All great news! Good to see we have some people actually getting this beast. I too have one coming in (black), already paid for in full. The reviews should be out some time next month. Finding the right source and trusting the review should open the door for the others who would be classfied as fence riders for now. I firmly agree with the post that demand will wash supply in the coming months. I would expect if you did not order early it might be July before your model is available...either way this should be one heck of a motorcycling year. This year must go down in the record books as one of the most anticipated motorcycle releases of all time. All the fun starts pretty soon. Have a safe riding season to all. Surround yourself with good people and good things happen!!

I don't agree with "demand washing supply"...though I believe it will be the bike to beat. My 04 Busa was an easy aquisition (10 minutes) and there are plenty of them around to buy anytime anyone wants one. I had no issue getting a ZX14 ($13,500) for mid march delivery and doubt that I would in the future (they didn't even ask for a deposit) . 12's were always easy to get with little or no wait involved, unless that particular color was out of stock at the time...at least here in Quebec, thats the way it is and we are a large bike buying population here.

Just wait until they are actually in dealerships and on the road. Things are going to dry up here in the USA pretty fast where having the best really matters. The one horse towns might have one or two but these things will not sit around. Plus there will be a bunch of used bikes for sale pretty soon, I am sure.............the ship jumpers are coming :o)

I remain skeptic on that...like I said, there has never been any issue with 12R's or Busa's in the past...so what would change that much now? Most people won't touch a beast like this as they are too intimidated and the younger crowds go for the 600/1000's as they are better machines for stunters.

I'm going to wait to see how they take abuse at the drag strip. I'm always a skeptic buying the first model year of anything, whether it's cars or bikes. If everything is looking good and a lot of aftermarket parts are available, I'll pick one up at the end of summer.

I'm first on the list at 2 dealers - just making sure I get a pretty blue one ;-)

Will also be selling my trusty ZZR1200 that just turned 21,000 miles last weekend... I'll miss it... for about a minute!
