Poll Question:
What do you guess for the ZX-14's curb weight?

VPN's poll -- what do you guess the 14's curb weight will be? (For reference and possible comparison, the 2005 ZX-12R's value is 542.3 lb.)

Also by the way, the ZX-14 carries three liters more fuel than the Twelve, so this would give it an extra 4.6 lb even if the machines themselves were identical in weight. That is to say, whatever difference you think there is between the machines, figure about another 4.6 lb added to the Fourteen's curb weight on account of its extra fuel capacity.

Poll Results:
 2 votes (17%)
Below 535 lb

 3 votes (25%)
536-539 lb

 1 votes (8%)
540-544 lb

 3 votes (25%)
545-549 lb

 2 votes (17%)
550-554 lb

 1 votes (8%)
555-559 lb

 0 votes (0%)
Over 560 lb

Impossible to edit once started: the second choice should read 535-539 lb, not 536-539.

In other words if your vote is 535, that should be the second choice.

Well, if you have the stock weight, then subtract 18 lb and you have the weight with Muzzy exhaust, according to Mr Muzzy. So knowing one gives you the other.

I think the ZX-14 will be lighter than the ZX-12R regradless of the extra fuel difference, because while the bike is physically bigger in certain places/areas, surely it's ligher in other places/areas so that would cancel it out if there's any difference. Kawasaki has to know what thy're doing with building this machine and I don't think they'd cancel two (2) other motorcycles, replace them with this one (1) if it wasn't better somehow than the two machines it replaced.

"Who rides stock?"

Not me. my bike will be heavier, stock as with ABS & center stand + grab handle
then add bigger windscreen, hard bags, heatable grips, extra power outlets,
stuffed seat, brake disc lock in under seat compartment, alarm system,
Scott-Oiler, etc... then add to that curb weight my fat...plus medium weight Nina
all the travelinf stuff in those hard bags, etc. total will exceed 1000 lbs!

it's concentrating - lucky enough - not quite that low and rather on the frontal side
I have some minor trouble squeezing behind the wind screen
Maybe I better settle for GSX-1400 - it will fit me better now that I think of it.

Now there you go again, thinking about skipping town. Do I have to hold your hand to stick to you plan?

Better not - I'm a straight guy
I think now I do have to stick with the original plan
The mere thought of holding hands scares me
and your avatar remainds the reflection from my monitor
when I just read what you wrote ZX11D
Yes
I just have to get that 14, probably grey (it may have a greenish tint)
and
lose loose weight, too....

They released the dry weight. Its 10 lbs more than the 12r. The 12r is about 530 curb with a pipe.

So a 12r with a pipe is lighter and has more HP than a stock ZZR14.
Good job Kawi. Nothing like not raising the bar. Seems like thay just opened the door again for yet another marketing mess.

They really need to watch Suzuki and learn how to raise the bar.

What pipe puts 113,4 ft.lbs torque on a 12R ???
Let me know and we can take it from there
Remember also the low 2000 rpm torque
AND
Why don't you do it the other way around:
compare a ZX-14 with pipes against stock ZX-12R
Lets' have kickboxing match you and me, but your legs tied together
That's fair - huh?!

From the sounds of it, he's just turning into a "soon-to-be-ST1300 owner" or a "soon-to-be-Goldwing owner"

"Showing less weight and wheelbase than the ZZR1200
and more performance than even the Ninja ZX-12R"

I say ZX-14 has more curb weight than Ninja ZX-12R
otherwise they would have marketed it having less...
