I was shot in 1999 and may he rest in peace today. Having a gun is always the easy part. It is not like the movies, you don't fall down when hit unless your a fag wannabe dork with a gun. Shooting back with deadly intentions his a great thing.

I have no pics I took myself, do have pics from sellers on 2 of my guns:

It's since been to Cylinder and Slide as it did not work when purchased (jammomatic.)

The Colt Government 380 worked perfectly till just a couple days ago when grease accidentally got on the extractor, and in cleaning I accidentally moved the extractor upwards and this somehow fucked things up -- when apparently returned to correct position it's impossible to insert a magazine all the way, the last 3/8 or half inch doesn't go in. Haven't figured out how to fix this. Stupid. I'm not familiar with the insides of Colt 380's and so may see if there's any local gunsmith, I certainly don't want to send it out to another six-month-waiting-list place for a minor repair like that.

It usually has a flash-suppressor on it now though, and just recently I uglified it by putting Agrips on it (wraps around, improves your grip) with a thin strip of Sorbothane on the back strap, underneath the Agrip. It's removable, so no permanent harm.

No pic of my Dan Wesson Razorback 10mm, or Sako 75 Hunter -- stock photos (NOT my guns) are:

BTW, those are out of production and the seller I found that had that stock photo is offering a really good buy, $850. The DW must not be quite up to a $2000+ full-custom gun, though the only thing I notice is there's no fancy finish just a nice stainless steel job, but it's well above your garden variety 1911: I don't think it can be beat at that price. Mine feels like a custom trigger job straight from the factory, and has been dead reliable and seems quite high quality. Nonetheless, like a moron, I may try boron nitriding it (or maybe I'll do that to the Government 380, gotta do it to something.)

I might maybe, not soon though, get a 9x25 barrel for it.

It wears pewter grips most of the time, reason being that while ordinary 10mm loads are OK and don't need it, the hot ones give me a flinch after a while, without the pewters.

I also have a weird idea of acquiring tungsten sheet, buying thin wood grips, and cutting the tungsten sheet to match and fit underneath, thus winding up with the profile of ordinary grips but quite a bit of extra weight, moreso than the regular pewter grips add I would think, as tungsten is much more dense, so even though the sheets would be thinner they'd probably weigh more. Haven't done it though, it's a way-back-burner project, way-way down on priorities.

I'm probably going to get a Mark I Desert Eagle in 41 magnum with 6 and 10" barrels, convert it to Mark VII trigger, hopefully get the trigger smoothed out, and convert the 10" barrel to 41 GNR which is a pretty amazing round. (Should be over 2000 fps.)

May also get a P7 M8.

I guess I am now not going to do it, as I don't want to have too many guns, but I had been thinking of getting a S&W 460 XVR revolver. (Which really is .45 caliber.) That has got to be awesome, and it could also be used for 45 Colt or even I would think 45 Auto Rim, and would have to be almost recoil-less with those loads, and very accurate.

But it would be kind of redundant ballistics-wise with the 41 GNR.

guns are frightening to me, we dont have them in the same way you do in the states, wouldn't mind shooting a few though, i reckon it will not be long before the uk allows them due to the increase in gun crime over here, harry told me a story about being pulled by the coppers and they drew their guns ! i would of filled my undercrackers and collapsed lol

I hope I am wrong but I believe the chances are very low of the UK becoming pro-gun-for-hones-citizens on account of the crime rate.

Leftists have always used crime rate as their reason to ban guns.

However, maybe it's not impossible that the UK will reverse the ban on even obviously-sporting arms being owned, as rifles certainly can be useful for home defense. However, sadly I think it's unlikely. I would be glad to be shown wrong.

That's a good question, and also depends on the state.

In Florida, I'm not sure when the question is put exactly as you did.

Literally "protecting your home," per se, no. For example suppose the problem is kids pelting your house with eggs on Halloween and in no way threatening you... can't shoot 'em.

If the issue is, someone has broken into your home and you fear for the life or physical safety of anyone in your home, then the answer is yes, you can shoot 'em.

For that matter it isn't even required that all this be at home, if away from home you are likewise threatened and have reasonable cause to believe you are this physical risk of life or limb (figuratively speaking) you can shoot them. But the standard of evidence for how much at risk you were is lower in your home than it is outside, or perhaps better said, you're more presumptively in the right in your home, than in a self-defense shooting away from home. It used to be in Florida that one was obligated to flee first if possible, and only if that was impossible to shoot, but that requirement has been eliminated in a legal technical sense.

(Nonetheless, if you're a fine physical specimen that can likely run a 10.5 sec 100 yard dash, with plenty of stamina, and there was plenty of place to go, and the threatener had no gun and obviously was nowhere near as mobile, I'd bet one would be prosecuted nonetheless for shooting instead of fleeing, on account of, where was the risk?)

If the issue is, someone has come into your home without your permission and is about to steal something from it -- so you're protecting your home -- but you have no reasonable basis to consider yourself or anyone in your home at risk, I do not know the answer in Florida.

Just made the deal on a 41 Magnum Desert Eagle with 6" and 10" barrels

Yes (if previous thread was missed) I know that without the right tuning they're unreliable and have crappy trigger pulls -- but I seem to have gotten a good source of info on fixing those, plus the rare 41 Magnum is reported to be the best-operating in the first place -- that the free-floating magazine gives unreasonable fussiness (no fixing that except extreme care to keep hand from touching it), the safety is in an inconvenient position, and of course it's too bulky to carry.

That said, I'm looking forward to it one reason being because the 41 Magnum itself can be more interesting than I thought.

First, the Buffalo Bore 170 grain JHP gets 1640 fps out of a 6.5" Ruger, so it should do similarly in the DE with the 6" barrel I would think. On the DE's side is no cylinder gap and polygonal bore; on the revolver's side is an extra half inch nominally plus an 3/4 or so inch due to the difference in how revolver vs semi-auto barrels are measured, so call it a wash. Anyway, I really never knew before this that 41 Magnum could be quite that fast.

Second, I plan to convert (rechamber) the 10" barrel to 41 GNR, which is a 44 Magnum necked down to 41. Gary Reeder says it's put a 170 grain JHP out an 8" revolved barrel at 2100 fps, so it should have good potential in the 10" DE I would think. On the other hand, Raven Ammunition lists theirs at "only" 1800 fps from an 8" revolver, so I guess the 2100 fps isn't what you get commercially but is strictly a hot handload. Still, maybe 1800 fps from an 8" revolver would translate to 1850 or 1900 from the 10" DE. Interesting anyway.

Actually the smart thing to do, except I don't have a chronograph, would be to chronograph the Buffalo Bore 41 Magnum from the 10" barrel. If the longer barrel is worth an extra 100 fps, then maybe that 41 Magnum would with it already be 1740 fps: if so, maybe then why bother with the 41 GNR conversion?

I kind of hesitate to mention it, this other one that I've just agreed on, because the timing makes it sound like I'm being a nut or extravagant getting guns, but in fact this makes "only" the 5th handgun and the last for a while, quite possibly never going past that number (selling an existing one before getting another past this.)
