What oil will be in the ZX-14??
No, this is not a "best oil thread". We still have about 90 days to kill before the bikes start showing up. I have already started to get ready (ya, no life).
I am a wierd fanatic about clean oil. My 14 will get its first oil change after 20 miles (from dealership to my house). It will get its second at 100 miles, etc,etc etc.
Anyway, the point of this post is not when to change oil or what to use. Im wondering what will come in the 14s. I haven't bought a new bike since my 03 FJR1300, it had dino oil.
I know alot of cars are comming with synthetic already in them from the factory.
So the question is..... will Kawasaki stuff synthetic oil onto the mighty 14s, or stick with dino oil.
What has the ZX-10s been comming with?
Any speculation???

....and I wonder what will be the best way to break it in????.....ok, I'm bullshittin', but types of lubes/oils and break-ins are always good for a lively debate....I'll start: I adhere to the manufacturer's doctrine

What a weird thing to worry about if you're going to change it in 20 miles anyway.

Boy, you guys really missed the boat on this post. Either that or I did not express myself well.
I have my own thoughts on the type of oil to use, and when to change it.
The question is "what oil will come in the bike from the factory"?
If it comes with synthetic I will use synthetic on ALL oil changes.
If it comes with dino oil I will use dino oil on all changes up to 2000 miles then switch to synthetic.
I am not asking how to break it in, I have my own break in method.
I am not asking what oil is best, I have my own "favorite oil".
I am not asking "how often should I change the oil", I have my own oil change schedule.
jimzx9r, weather its 20 miles or 20,000 miles if it comes with synthetic you should stay with synthetic.
If it comes with dino I will use dino. Sheeesh, its not that difficult.
With alot of new cars comming with synthetic these days I was wondering if Kawasaki would use synthetic in there new bikes, thats all.
Sorry I bothered you guys,

Here comes another oil discussion...
Hey Varoom, do a search on oil on bikeland...The motorcycle manufacturers know us bikers are very sensitive about the oil we use!!!...So, they put in their brand of oil knowing that we will put in which brand we like, just make sure you use an OEM oil filter...
Im not telling you to use the oil I use, just letting you know what I use!!!

Motorcycles use oil? Where is it kept? Are the tires used as an oil tank?

You mix it in the gasoline. Once every 3000 miles. Some people say once every 1000 miles.

I have been using just plain ole honda oil in my ZX10R for a long time, I dont spend the money on synthetics, as i change my oil far to often to spend that kind of money...I change the oil before and after every trac k day, or motorcycle event.....so I average about 1000-1500 miles between oil changes...the oil never gets a chance to break down.....so why buy the expensive stuff.....
ZX14 will have plain ole oil in it, they all have as far as I know. And in most Kawi sport bikes its 10W 30-40
