Hey Fish- you mean "real" gun? I have an H&K Tactical (.45), a Remington M700 heavy barrel w/leop scope and haris bipod, and a Reminton 12 guage . I'll try and get pix of em for you. What is the current best pic posting site?

I don't have this... wonder if I should get it... if hard to read, it's the 460 S&W Magnum with 7.5" Lothar Walther barrel, also shoots 454 Casull, 45 Colt, or I would suppose 45 Auto Rim but don't know for a fact on that latter.
Also would not mind a Nighthawk Talon III in 45 ACP and Coyote Brown, but unfortunately only learned of this company at the same time as EVERYBODY ELSE IN THE WORLD AND HIS FREAKIN' BROTHER, as every single gun mag ran a big feature on them this month so my guess is, huge backlog now.
Also wouldn't mind a H&K Mark 23... interestingly, there's a flash suppressor for it that besides suppressing flash, also tightens (already tight) groups significantly and reduces muzzle flip to virtually zero, reportedly... the pic is on a USP but gives the idea:
The Mark 23 is good for 45 Super right out of the box, incidentally. Probably a better platform for it than any 1911-type, is my thinking. (As well as, except for bulk, being a great 45 ACP platform.)

Hey Terance - don't get the Mark 23 - too large and expensive. Check out the Tactical (my fav handgun). She's smaller, less expensive and just as functional.
The semi-automatics are the goods...I say the 9mm is the best to have, in that it has a 15 round mag for Law Enforcement of course and has the smoothest operation round after round!!!...38s, 44s Garbage!!!...Revolvers are like riding an old 1 speed bicycle or a 1950 harley davidson!!!
After the 9mm, I say the semi-auto .40cal. is the gun to have!!!...No need for a .45 or desert eagle .50cal. Besides you want to place the rounds, not take a shot with the desert eagle and see the target un touched, because after you realized your arms were not locked out or you not having a tight enough grip...The recoil is too much for small groupings...Ohh yeah, in a controled environment the .50 cal can group small...If you combat and holster train the 9mm is best...
Yeah sure bigger is better in alot of situations...But in this situation less is more!!!

CR, I already have a 380 ACP and a 10mm and may be getting a midsize 9mm. I agree with your points basically, I definitely shoot better with nothing hotter than midline 40 S&W, 45 ACP, or light-loaded 10mm. It's just that bigger is also fun. I am really not a revolver guy but I did like shooting the 357 Mag S&W I got my ex (for her armed guard license) and so I think I would like the 460, though most of the time I'd be shooting the 45 Colt or Auto Rim in it. But the ballistics of the 460 S&W Mag on rare occasions of shooting that are just awesome. Overall I definitely have the personal preference for semiauto pistols, though, over revolvers, by a lot. Not rational maybe (other than out of the flatness and faster single action operation) but true.
Deathpulse, that is a genuine question whether to get the Mark 23 or the Tactical or Expert. The Mark 23 is too big to carry, that's for sure, but I wouldn't be carrying it anyhow. My thinking was that the USP Tactical or Expert would be closer to overlapping with the 1911 in terms of overall size/use whereas the Mark 23 would be just a whole 'nother animal. But there is a lot to be said for what you're saying for sure... tough choice!

Hmm... I have to disagree with you CR - II love my .45's. I'm a bigger guy and I have large hands. The 9's always feel like toys. I can place the .45 shots really well - even double taps etc.
Needs a life
Full throttle!

You know, I always loved Rugers. Hunted with a Super Blackhawk mostly, was great for bear. In the military, it was a .45, and was shooting all the courses (target, combat, nightfire) every three months, so yah, I got good with a .45. Even bought a Ruger P-whatever in .45. Was the most inaccurate gun I ever owned! Could NOT get that thing to shoot consistently, which I could do with any Colt I was handed...Weird, eh? In any case, all that shooting took all the emotion out of guns for me. They were just another tool of the job, and I ended up selling all my handguns when I moved out of state. Still got the expert rifle and pistol medals tho. ____________

I prefer .40 s&w as my "everyday" carry weapon. The best all a round cal, I think.
I like to practice with 5 grains of bullseye and copper plated 180gr bullets. My dillon press spits em out at about 600 per hour. Havent used the rock chucker sence i got the dillon.
For a carry round I like 170gr holow points with 6.5 gr of AA no. 5 powder. That combo is good for 1000 fps with the 170 gr. bullet Its alot of stopping power. And rapid fire is very controlable. Its about 60% more stopping power than a 115 gr 9mm holow point at 900 fps.
Now if you like to carry a backup weapon then the 45 win mag is the game stopper. With a 200gr hollow point at 1600 fps it will go thru whatever the perp is hiding behind and stop his asault.

I love the Dillon. I keep several calibers of dies setup in the tool block so i can change calibers in a few min and maintain accurate overall lengths of each caliber without resetting the dies. I can switch from .223 (rifle) to .40 (pistol) in about a minute.
The power measure is quite accurate for a progressive. about .1 grain with bullseye. Some stick rifle powders are less accurate but the charge is so much bigger the % is the same.
For compitition i still use a trickel drop and a scale with the rock chucker. But i dont shoot comp. anymore.

I think the estimate is 265,000,000 guns in the US.
And 99.99% are never used in a crime.
If you knew everyone was carrying a gun would you cut that guy off on the highway and be an asshole untill you both pulled over and had it out? I think not.
Would you walk into a crowded place and pull out your pistol and threaten the crowd? I think not.
