As I think about the route Kawi has gone...
Some will sit back and think that Kawi took 7 years and an extra 100cc's to release a Busa beater.
Yet, dont forget how long it took Suzuki or anyone else to dethrone the once famous ZX-11. While some could argue the XX did, that was marginally iffy at best. It took Suzuki 250cc more deplacement to dethrone the ZX-11 which reigned for many many years.
And why did Kawi not release this 14 in classic Kawi green, such as this photochop:
Who can forget the mighty ZX-11 of the day, with the classic Ninja decal in such big lettering:

Was the ZX-11, speed king as it was, ever green? I don't believe so...
I do, however, think the green chop looked good and would have alleviated considerable criticism.

I guess I show my age and experience when I never thought of that. Good point.

Kawasaki didnt need an exra 100cc to dethrone the busa.. Even the old GSXR 1100 had more cc's than the ZX11 and the 11 would still walk away from it.. The 12 is restricted to the ecu and with my akrapovic and pc3r I just walk busas for fun..

you can keep the 2000 green. Go LimeGreen all the way. I still think its amazing that Kawi only offered the Kawi green on the 2003. Makes it even more unique.

Dethrone-shmeethrone.....
Last I heard, the 12r dethroned the Busa in 2000 and has been doing it every year since!
Busa owners (and many others) refuse to recognize this fact.

The 12 definitely whacked the busa by 3mph in the last psycho world test.

that zx11 is a D model. slower than a c model. i bought a new 91 c model .had it for 10 years and 56000 miles. i never lost a race on the steet with that bike. at that time i never raced a busa. i knew a busa would walk me so i bought a new 2000 12r and have not lost a steet race yet. to anything. i won't race bikes with nos,big bores or turbos or blowers.

Cycle errr Phsycho Whooorrrllld in 2002 had the 12 beating the Busa Buffet by 2mph. I guess since then it has only gained 1mph hehe

I dont belive any ZX11 model tested after 1990 beat or even tied the 1st years test.. C or D model..
