biketoberfest bust!!!!
#@!%$!!!!! Rode all the way to Daytona and no ZX-14....No Kawasaki....not a damn thing. Seems Kawi USA decided to pack up early...very early and puss-on-out of Daytona. We got there at 10 AM this morning (Saturday). The wife and I were very disappointed.

I know what you mean. F@%$#@$n bastards. I got there Sat morning, around 10:00am. They had just finished packing everything up. It was a 5 hour drive for me.
The Kawasaki guy I spoke to said "Kawasaki called and told them to pack it up because of the hurricane". Well knowone else packed up, just Kawasaki. I was so pissed I couldn't see straight.
If I didn't already love the 14 I would tell Kawasaki to shove it!!

My understanding is that ALL the OEM's decided to pack it up early.
I am also told that Saturday is only a half day anyway.
Now I was not there, I am only going off of what I was told by some of the people I work with.
Sorry for the dissapointment people....but no one was sure when the Hurricane was to strike if at all.
It was better to be safe than sorry.

Yamaha was still present, but packing. Suzuki and Honda had a full spread, including demo rides. The retail tent was spartan, but so were the crowds.
How could Kawi do this to me? How could they pack up their display on a Saturday at Biketoberest???

Sorry Guys....
We hated to pack up on Sat, but all the Mfgs were informed it may be a good idea to leave Sat, as the tents and trucks could not survive a hurricane. Also...our staff had to get out as well, and the only flights were available Sat afternoon...nothing on Sunday. As a Kawasaki employee, and being in Daytona, I was happy to see that they put our safety as a priority over our product. As it was, when the hurricane started to move...it did so at a very fast pace, and had our staff waited for their Monday flights, they would still be there because all the flights on Monday were cancelled. Once again...Sorry....but the good news is that the 14 is slated to be on the demo ride lineup for March Bikeweek
