The new ZX-10R. The more I look at it in the pictures, the more outdated the other models look. But that's just me...

The new 06 looks much better in the flesh, just wait till you see it with the new Akra system on it you will change your mind on the new bike. I dare say when some of the other companies get their systems finished the new 10 will have more appeal with the masses.
Many changes on the new model that will further enhance the handling aspects of the 10 make it a little less intimidating for the average rider than the 04-05 model as a result this will definately be a faster bike to ride with some smoothing of the previous "in your face engine" (part of the appeal for me) in a bid to have a greater appeal and more sales.
It is more likely that models from all the Jap manufacturers will be evolutionary rather than revolutionary in the future as what we ride gets closer to what they race!

DB, maybe because a lot of guys would 'like' a new 14, but already have a 12 and don't really need a 2nd. thats why I voted for the 14. If I were an average size, I doubt i'd have a 12 or want a 14. The ZX10 is where is at for 2006! I'm just too damn big...

I am sticking with the 12, at least til some numbers come out for the 14. I'm in the same situation as Lietome, I am too big for the liter class bikes.....

05 vs 06=$ and looks. IMHO. I don't think the ohlins damper makes up for the missing plastics at the bottom of the fairing.

The ZX-14 is out of the running.
Even if I had already seen one in person, the "George Forman Grills" are too much for me to deal with. I'm sure it would be a beautiful "hyper" sport tourering bike. Just not my cup of tea.
The ZX-12R is also out of the running.
No matter how wonderful the 3 year relationship I had with my "baby" and how much I worked/modified "her"... she just wasn't what I really wanted from a "wife"... I mean... bike. Though I am not "Thin as a rail", it was her "weight problem" that ended our relationship. The 182 RWHP just wasn't enough to get her in shape for back road riding.
The '05 ZX-10R would get a second.
Though the differences between my '04 and the '05 might be minor from a cosmetic view, the suspension changes alone would be enough to make me think twice. Alas, time and technology moves on. Thus, the '05 ZX-10R would likely fall into the "Also ran" category.
If I was "in the market", I'd go with the '06 ZX-10R. My biggest gripe is the exhaust, but like most of my previous bikes, the OEM system is usually replaced shortly after the bike has been broken in anyway. With something similar to the Two Brothers system (like something from KB and AP) on the bike, I'm sure it's improved performance and handling would make it very easy to overlook and other minor qualms I might have over it's appearance.
Like I have always said, if your lookin' at it, you ain't ridin' it. I prefer to ride.

Not buying a sportbike over the stock exhaust is kinda funny. It's not like it's the frame or engine cases. It's easily replaced(as just stated) and the outcome is a plus in terms of weight savings and hp.
And besides a high mount exhaust has it's pros and cons as any other, such as aerodynamics and less prone to crash damage in a tumble. If you've ever had a side mounted exhaust act as a frame slider and bent into the swingarm/tire preventing you from riding home after a somewhat minor spill you'll know what I mean. And don't worry about "all the bends" sucking away hp, it's not like the pipes twist and turn and go in circles, it's usually only one more minor bend than a typical system, not even near 90 degrees and if that takes away 1 or 2 precious hp out of 160 then damn, I've never heard of someone losing a race over 1-2 less hp out of 160.
06 ZX10 gets my vote.
