If the 12r is dead I hope that the new 14 will be able to compete against the busa and all new comers to the market. Will they even be mods made for this new 14r. It would be like putting a super charger on a caddy.

It won't necessarily make the 12r more valuable Stef...
It all depends upon what that fickle thing known as 'the market' does with the new bug-eyed, freak show, George Foreman Grilled, butt-ugly, bad 80's throwback monstrosity. If it's quicker and/or faster than the Busa, which it should be (read damn well better be, Kawi...) then all the posers on their Busas will ditch them because they can no longer boast that their bike is the fastest. The ZX-14 will become very popular sales wise. It'll also glut the market with used Busas - cheap Busas - which even currently sell far better than the 12r. This could very well drive the value of the 12r down even further.
This could end up being a boon for you...
All brought to you by the warm hearts of your friendly Kawasaki management.

quote: Ok I dont understand - maybe because I havent been into the motorcycle industry for as long as everyone on the forum - but please explain this.
Kawi is dropping the 12R out of the model lineup for whatever reason - but why did they raise the MSRP on the 2005 model? What is their (Kawi) reasoning on that?
Exchange rate.
Not only from being aware of the change in relative value of yen and dollar, but also from reading Kawasaki's Annual Financial Report. They mentioned taking a huge beating out of that, essentially erasing all profits.
Actually the raised prices still generated less yen (which Kawasaki's costs are in) than the previous prices at the older exchange rate.
That was the reason, not the reason you suggest of believing higher prices would produce more sales.

Just think the Gov, got what they wanted from Phillip Morris and Kawasaki did not want to answer some BS lawyers questions in front of a congressional hearing.
The Gov is making the world idiot proof one product at a time.

Well for the amount of sales the last two years. It should of came sooner. I mentioned before that 12 and Busa sales up here are basicly none existant. The world is changing into gamers from doers.
So Yamaha might actually have the best street line-up in 06. WOW

I know that the price of a 00 and 01 ZX12R from private sales is between $6,000 to $7,000 AND AT THE DEALER I HAVE SEEN THEM FOR $8,500 (and they did not want to drop the price either)
The Concors is the 1984 900 Ninja in touring trim. They even have the same brakes!
Even if discontinued, the ZRX is still what I want to have.
