There was a running joke, a long time ago...A bunch of engineers sitting around a table at the local cafeteria. A honda engineer proudly stands up and says 'all our engineers graduated at the top of their classes, from the finest universities!'. He sits down, and the a yamaha engineer stands up. 'All of our engineers have graduated at the top of their classes too!'. A suzuki engineer stands up and proclaims 'Our engineers have graduated from the finest universities!'. Everyone looks expectantly at the kawasaki engineer. He clears his throat, adjusts his collar and preclaims 'Our engineers have graduated!'.
That's how I feel. Motherfucking shortbus riding stuck in the goddamned '80s leftover styling cue fisheyed pencil necked 2.8 GPA fucking design team should collectively have their pencils shoved up their asses and broken off!

Just so you the readers can get an idea of where you sit on the "kawasaki" scale of things.. how many zx-12rs did you own at once and list the kawasaki products you own and have owned..
stuff like this makes me wonder if big companies like KHI even bother using forums like this as a tool to reach their customers...
to elicit a response like that from a loyal customer....

Over the years, I've owned several Kawasakis. When I decided to reenter motorcycling, the ZX12R was the only bike I wanted. I purchased a red one in April of 2000, and a silver one later that year. With good friends like Humam, and Don Blair (Rest In Peace, Don) riding 12s, we had a nice group of local riders. I also hosted events a couple times, where our northern brothers came down and raised hell on the local backroads.
As I got more interested in improving the handling and performance of my 12, I explored every avenue to make the bike later, eventually elminating over 60 lbs of weight as compared to a stock bike. The fun part was sharing information with friends like Don, who would always want to go 'one better'.
I can remember a lot of things, like the first time I rode my 12 after the Marchesinis were put on...wow! Or the first wheelie after the 1270 motor was broken in...The first trip into the 9 second range at the strip...Cracking 190 on the straight at SIR...Lots of memories, no doubt. But all things change, and when the 10 came out, I was ready for a change as well. With the passing of Don, I lost interest in drag racing, so the silver 12 with the stroker motor was sold. Now I've got a 10, but really, it's prolly gonna be my last sportbike. The new ZX14 is a total disappointment. The styling cues are old school, and I honestly feel they felt they had to build a busa. What's that saying 'if you can't beat em, copy what they have and call it 'new''?
Course, that's just my opinion...I'm not saying the bike is fatally flawed. It's not a 'bad bike'. If someone wants to go out and buy one, they will. Just dont' expect me to roll up and complement you on it's looks at a stoplight.
What's funny is that I prolly would have tolerated that bike as a ZZR. But this is the equivalent of putting buick portholes in your chevy and calling it 'racy'.

hmmm, for many years Kawi sold a sport tour /hyper bike with the ZX nomeclature here in the USof A. the ZX11.
Now they reuse that nomenclature instead of the Euro designater (which I hate btw) and you are offended? Odd,because it appears to me that this ZX14 is the "real" replacement for the long lived King, the ZX11.
I like it, they should have built it in 2000 instead of 2006 is the only real problem I see.
Fish, take me with you to Cali when you get the call for that demo day!!

Swft! I agree with every word!!! I am so dissapointed in the looks of that thing!!!
It really sucks because I wanted to buy a new bike this year... It sure is not going to be that thing!

I kept my zx12 until I sold it in july of 06,really liked all my bikes even the Hondas I have owned. And by the way if you think KHI gives 2 shits about internet crap, think again. My 12 was a great bike but my 14 is better in just about everyway, quit whinning buy 1 and ride it. Have a great day,I know I will while riding my 14. Chuck

I didn't like the alien look of the 2000 but it carried more mph at the track and i felt it would make the best track weapon. I grew to like the look.
I love look of a zx14 LOWERED AND STRECHED. It's the best looking bike made, to me.
For what I like, commute and drag race, it's the perfect bike.

People generally beg for change but rarely like it when those changes are first made. That's just the nature of the beast.

i love my zx14; i bought it new and weighed the aspects of the busa and the 14 very carefully before i plunked down 11 grand cash.
i like the busa, and its a helluva bike. if people dont like it they shouildnt buy it; but then of course, they wouldnt own the worlds quickest production bike ( with the gills i love ) :

SWFT, so basically you're desiring a little better styling from Kawasaki with the ZX14 ?
IMHO, Kawasaki did a much better job styling wise on the concours14.
