Piston to valve clearance - Gen2 Zx14r

Hi all,

My son and I are in the process of organizing head-work for his ZX14r but we have limitations due to the stock pistons being retained.

Can anyone tell me (with certainty) what the limitations are regarding piston to valve clearance on a gen2 ZX14R ?

1. Is there enough room for 0.400 lift (mid 240's @50) and stock valves?
2. Is there enough room for 0.400 lift (same duration as above) and 34mm valves?
3. Is there enough room for 34mm valves with stock cams (0.366 lift)
4. Is a thinner head gasket enough to push any of the above over the edge??

If you have any of these combinations or have engine builder level experience with these then please share your knowledge.

Cheers guys
