KM weekend soundbites

...just got back from 5 days at Kennedy Meadows last night...perfect weather...lots of single track...lots of silt...lots of steep rocky technical trails...a few water crossings...even rode through the tail end of a planned burn forest fire at night (spooky!)...hunters with lots of guns in the area, too (double spooky!) ...

...my buddy siezed up his well used '95 XR650 on the very first ride, so we went to KTM of Mojave and he bought a new 625SXC off the showroom floor (he loves it!) ...

...I face planted three times at low-speed (25~35mph) with no appreciable damage to me or my bike, tho I broke the bill of my HJC...but 25~35mph off-road might as well be 125~135mph on-road for my newbie off-road skills ...

...my KLX400SR needs at least the 14/47 gearset, bar risers, and a steering dampner and it'd be perfect for what I was doing up there at 8500 feet, other than that this bike has all the power I could possibly use (which I didn't)...the 606s worked beautifully for me on/off road :...

...each subsequent ride was faster and smoother and more confidence inspiring...some rides were so technical that I must've used ALL of my muscles, cuz' my body feels as tho I did 1000s of sit-ups, pull-ups, and squats trying to keep up with the fast guys...which I couldn't, but at least they were cool enough to wait for me at each junction...besides, I always ALWAYS ride my own ride, on or off road

...and I'll probably need to wear a kneebrace after all those whoops if I continue to ride trails like that...one thing's for sure: its a very, VERY good idea to wear ALL your safety gear all the time...

...my complete admiration to all you highly skilled off-road riders who dance with your bikes on the trails...it was A LOT of work for me on these trails (even more so than my recent Baja adventure), but I had a blast!...and I'm jealous!

...can you tell that I had A LOT of fun?

(a few pics to follow if I knew how)

I remember growing up, at 17 I raced an RM370. I did my share of fly'n W's. If I wasn't crashing, I wasn't finding the edge. Dam I was a slow learner!! lol Broken nose, ankle, and finally blew my left knee out. I wouldn't trade the experiance for anything.
