ZX 12 R Differences? I am looking at putting a ZX12R in a dwarf car. Are there any differences in the year models that would make one year more (or less) advantageous than another. Are there any areas that might be looked at in an effort to increase reliability? Thanks for your help.

hte later (2002 on i believe) are prolyl ur best bet. seems they put out a bi tmore power, and their a little smoother (& liekly more suitable to the heavier weight of the car) thanks to a heavier crank. i _think_ it was 2002 when they made that change. if u can afford a new engine, grab one off a 2004 model (liek a crate engine, not sure when muzzys will have 2004's available) cas they have the smoother response of the double butterfly valve intakes.

The 2004 also has a 32 bit processor, and a few other mods. But, why not wait for the 10R Motor Lighter, and from what we can tell similar HP.

There are oil mods to make to the 12R engine for dwarf duty. It appears that the oil cannot get back to the pump pick-up fast enough,so there is starvation. I've seen some oil tube mounted on side of engine from valve gallery to pan to fix this. Clutches on 2000,2001 are weak baskets, and non-drilled for oil. Cranks weigh the same in all models,it's just the weight is carried farther away from the centerline creating an add'l "flywheel" effect. It makes the first 2 years rev quicker. Knowing some of the rules for racing,I would think that designing a "ram-air" system could be beneficial. A step Hindle will work on top-end,but a Muzzy slip-on works best for midrange.
